So, what is the way of prostrating with the body? It is to practice excellent conduct, relying on the power of Samantabhadra's aspiration. That is, with this power, one prostrates by subduing afflictions such as disbelief, prostrating with great joy, which is called prostrating with aspiration. As it is said: 'When opposing forces weaken, they themselves are called strength.' It is like that. Why prostrate? To transform the merit arising from prostration into a special object. The remaining limbs should also be applied in the same way. Second, prostrating with joyful mind: 'In each atom, there are countless Buddhas, to all of them I respectfully prostrate.' Combine it like this. So, what is the object to be practiced? On one atom, imagine it is filled with Buddhas equal to the number of atoms in the ocean of Buddha-fields, and these Buddhas are dwelling in the center of countless Bodhisattvas. Just as it appears on one atom, in all the realms of Dharma, wherever space pervades, it is filled with Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Here, 'imagination' and the 'manifest' mentioned earlier have the same meaning. The so-called 'manifest' is imputed, while 'imagination' or 'discrimination' is self-characterized. Third, prostrating with joyful speech: Here too, 'In each atom, manifesting countless bodies, with the sounds of the ocean of melodious voices, I respectfully prostrate to all the Buddhas.' Combine it like this. The doer, the done, and the doing are as described before. So, in what way does one prostrate? In the way that I praise all the Sugatas. The meaning of praise is: 'Extolling all the virtues of the Buddhas.' The way of extolling is: in each string of melodious sounds, there are countless branches of melodious sounds like atoms, and all kinds of different sounds are emitted. So, what are the virtues like? 'In one atom' and so on, should also be applied here, which is the endless ocean of praises extolled by the Buddhas. The difference between praise, respect, and admiration lies in the fact that grammarians distinguish them by the number of letters. In the Ornament of the Prajna Sutra, it says: The declaration of virtues has small, medium, and large differences. Here, admiration and virtue are taken as synonyms, and expressing them in language is called praise. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Offerings are of two types: extensive explanations and combined offerings of prostrations and offerings. The first type is further divided into two: superior offerings and supreme offerings. The first, take the verse 'In each mote of dust' etc., and combine it with excellent flowers etc. Here, 'offering' merely indicates the meaning. To whom is it offered? To those Victorious Ones who possess the qualities of 'in each mote of dust' etc. With what is it offered? 'Excellent' means virtuous, unmixed with negativity and abundant. Specifically, with white lotuses and other flowers, and various garlands made of jewels and crystals. These are offered to the body of the Buddha, with various exquisite musical instruments offered to the ears of the Buddha, with sandalwood, saffron, etc., offered to the heart of the Buddha, with a supreme parasol with a golden handle, and ornaments, banners, etc., symbolized by it, offered to the head of the Buddha, with supreme butter lamps offered to the eyes of the Buddha, with excellent incense offered to the nose of the Buddha, with excellent garments offered to the upper and lower parts of the body of the Buddha, with excellent fragrances and what is called 'fragrance powder bags', which are sandalwood, agarwood, etc., powdered and wrapped in bundles with fine cloth etc., then piled up layer upon layer like Mount Meru, offered to the nose of the Buddha. The difference between excellent fragrance and fine incense is that the former emits fragrance without burning, while the latter emits fragrance when burned. The meaning of 'supreme and wonderful arrangements' is that although common speech is pleasing in its own way, when explaining the rituals of offering, commentators consider 'arrangements' to be a type of gathering, therefore it explains vast and supreme offerings such as those of gods and humans. Therefore, using 'arrangements' as an agentive word is inconsistent with the commentaries. Some translations say 'with all supreme and wonderful ornaments', in which case ornaments and arrangements have the same meaning, and 'all' is a type of multitude. The second type is offering the supreme offering, taking 'In each mote of dust' etc., and combining it with 'all offerings'. 'All' refers to the flowers etc. mentioned earlier. 'Supreme' means that it is not worldly things produced by karma with defilements, but arises from the samadhi and aspiration of Bodhisattvas. 'Vast' means that the offering enables the Dharmadhatu --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
