What is the nature of good deeds? It refers to those statements like 'they will soon become like that.' Here, the word 'those' appears three times, referring to those who possess the three characteristics of 'the king who dedicates merit in what way.' The term 'well come' without sound is incorrect and inconsistent with all commentaries. The fourth is: to be completely purified. Where? The sins of the five heinous crimes. How? Completely and swiftly. What is it like? It is like the deeds done by the perpetrator due to ignorance. What is the cause of complete purification? It is that one who has committed the five heinous crimes recites this aspiration of Samantabhadra's conduct with faith and devotion. The second is about the benefits of future lives, which are divided into two: summarized by cause and summarized by result. The first is further divided into two: the benefits of definite goodness and the benefits of higher realms. The first is: the wisdom of realizing selflessness and the thirty-two marks that characterize a great being. The second is: being born into noble lineages such as kings. 'Form' refers to: perfect shape. 'Color' refers to: it also possesses perfection. These are the qualities of inherent beauty, while the qualities of overpowering others are two: not being overcome by others and being revered by one's own. The first is: 'Demons and many heretics cannot overcome him.' This is because they obstruct the accumulation of merit, hence they are called demons. It is divided into four types, such as the demon of afflictions, or as explained earlier, separating afflictions and demons, there are only three, such as the demon of the aggregates. Because they are outside the Dharma or adhere to the extremes of permanence and annihilation, they are called heretics. In short, they are those who do not possess the four seals of Dharma. 'Cannot overcome' means: they cannot overpower. To summarize, the mind is not controlled by the qualities of desire, and evil views of permanence and annihilation do not arise in the mind. The second is: whoever hears this aspiration and rejoices, even if born anywhere in the three realms, will be revered, and gods and humans will respect and serve him. The three realms are: the gods and humans of the desire realm, and if explained as the gods of the form realm, the meaning of the words is clear. The elephants of the directions explain it as the three realms. The second is the benefit summarized by the result, which has five aspects: going to the Bodhi tree, and... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sitting at the Vajra seat, attaining complete enlightenment, turning the wheel of Dharma, and subduing the Maras (demons) are, in order: 'Quickly go to the Bodhi tree king,' 'Having gone, abide there for the benefit of sentient beings,' 'Enlightenment of Bodhi,' 'Turning the wheel of Dharma,' and 'Subduing all the Maras and their retinues.' Attaining enlightenment and subduing the Maras are merely demonstrations, while the other three are real. Secondly, explaining the benefits of having faith in this aspiration, divided into two points: its Vipaka (karmic result) is inconceivable, and there is no need to doubt its similar cause result and separation result. The first point is: Knowing. Who knows? Because others cannot conceive it, only the Buddha knows. What is 'Vipaka'? Generally, it refers to one cause producing many effects. Specifically, it refers to the qualities of higher realms that have already been mentioned. What is the cause of Vipaka? Having heard this aspiration, having faith and joy, anyone who holds this 'Samantabhadra's Aspiration for Excellent Conduct,' 'holding' is another way of saying grasping, which means not forgetting the words and keeping them in mind. Explaining means truly explaining its meaning to others. Reciting means looking at the words written in the book and reciting them aloud. Whichever of these one does, one can obtain merit. The second point is: Do not do. What should not be done? Do not doubt. What should not be doubted? Do not doubt that the merit arising from the three actions of holding, etc., can attain the supreme Bodhi, which is the perfect Buddhahood. Here, there is also the similar cause result—the aspect of wisdom, and the separation result—the aspect of abandonment. Through these, the benefits of generating faith and joy after hearing 'Samantabhadra's Aspiration for Excellent Conduct' have been explained. Next, explaining the benefits of having faith in this aspiration and dedicating the merit of reciting this aspiration. Secondly, dedicating the merit of reciting this aspiration and dedicating the fulfillment of the aspirations made by others. The first point is divided into two parts: dedicating to ultimately complete the accumulations, and dedicating to be reborn temporarily in Sukhavati (Pure Land of Bliss) and benefit sentient beings through emanations. The first part is divided into two parts: dedicating to complete the accumulation of merit with the dedication of the Bodhisattva youth; dedicating to complete the accumulation of wisdom with the dedication of great desire. The first point is: Dedication. Dedicating what? The Samantabhadra's conduct that I have created. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
