First, it is said that all dharmas are like this. Second, the five skandhas (aggregates) appear as the individual nature of the two consciousnesses, but as it is explained that they are without inherent existence, the continuity of conventional truth will not be severed. Second, if conventional truth exists in the nature of consciousness, then is it necessary to seek the emptiness of that wisdom separately? It is not different from conventional truth, nor is its emptiness aimed at separately, because conventional truth itself is said to be emptiness. Moreover, only the emptiness that has not experienced its own nature, appearing as the nature of consciousness, is called conventional truth. Because if one's own nature is not empty, then various interdependent appearances will not occur. Just like conditioned phenomena and impermanence. Some later Tibetan scholars believe that this treatise demonstrates the example of the oneness of the two truths, which is a misunderstanding. Because if the nature of the conventional is admitted, the nature of the ultimate will not arise. If one does not admit that the conventional is empty in itself, from where does one seek the nature of the ultimate? Therefore, this treatise shows that if the conventional does not have emptiness in its own nature, the various interdependent appearances of the conventional will not occur. As it is said: 'For whom emptiness is not established, for him everything is not established.' By meditating in this way, one can destroy samsara (cyclic existence) and realize the benefit of non-abiding nirvana. Third, understanding and familiarizing oneself with emptiness can destroy samsara and realize non-abiding nirvana. It is divided into two parts: explaining that understanding and familiarizing oneself with emptiness can realize non-abiding nirvana; and explaining that one is liberated from samsara by this. The first part is divided into two parts: explaining that this can eliminate the habitual tendencies of the two obscurations; and explaining that after eliminating these tendencies, one can realize the true extreme. First, the deluded appearance of conventional truth arises from afflictions and karma, and karma arises from the mind. The mind is called the mind from the perspective of accumulating and filling with habitual tendencies, and from the perspective of its emptiness, it is called the clear light mind. Being free from habitual tendencies is bliss, it is virtue. The blissful and virtuous clear light mind is peace itself. The mind is peaceful, free from all conceptual thoughts, and will not become ignorant. For the wisdom without ignorance, it is called realizing suchness. By realizing and familiarizing oneself with suchness, one can be liberated. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ultimately attain liberation and will be able to realize it. Here, there are two types of habitual tendencies: seeds and negative circumstances. Each of these is further divided into two: afflictions and the appearance of duality (grasping and the grasped). These two are the cause for the proliferation of conventional appearances, because one causes the internal, and the other causes the external interdependent origination to proliferate. Here, habitual tendencies and seeds are not as the Cittamatrins (Mind-Only School) assert. What are they then? Seeds are the emptiness of the nature of the mind-stream that has not yet generated the antidote wisdom for that which is to be abandoned, and the emptiness of the nature of that mind-stream. Habitual tendencies are the memory of having done that particular action before, which again arises in the mind. Therefore, it is not desired that habitual tendencies and seeds arise like a continuous stream of water. The second is that by familiarizing and habituating oneself with emptiness, the mind of the one who is habituated becomes inseparably mixed with emptiness, such that the consciousness of dualistic appearance does not find an opportunity. At that time, it is called realizing emptiness. That itself is called the ultimate limit, self-nature nirvana, and the manifestation of the ultimate bodhicitta, because terms such as thusness, the ultimate limit, signlessness, ultimate reality, and the supreme meaning of bodhicitta, the emptiness of the ultimate bodhicitta, are explained as various names. These various names are used when applying conceptual terms, but not when cutting through elaboration with view, because if emptiness is then acknowledged as ultimate, it becomes the supreme extreme of elaboration. Applying terms has two aspects: first, refuting self in the middle, and second, ultimately refuting all views. For the latter, although there is an acceptance that serves as a method, there is no acceptance or vow that is made with the view being dominant, as it is said: 'If I have some vows, then I have faults. Because I have no vows, I am faultless.' Secondly, those individuals who do not understand the emptiness of persons and phenomena being empty of their own nature, do not temporarily show the ultimate liberation, because due to the person's delusion of self, those individuals will wander in the prison of samsara in the six realms. Teaching the manner in which one must definitely benefit sentient beings after generating that mind (Bodhicitta). Third, regarding the manner in which one benefits sentient beings after that mind (Bodhicitta) has arisen, there are two parts: teaching and explanation. First, the teaching: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
