Regarding the turning point of the sun, it is said in the scriptures that the second month of summer is the Lesser Heat month, but no matter where the autumnal turning point is, it will not occur, because it is said in the scriptures and commentaries that there are solar turning points in winter and summer. Even if we accept it as stated in the Kalachakra Tantra, we see this fault of being unable to turn back, that is, the place where the sun rises at the southernmost end of Jambudvipa and the place where the sun rises at the northernmost end of Jambudvipa will become the same place, because the solar penumbra time at the spring and autumn equinoxes of Shar Lukpakpo is the same. We admit this universality, because the solar penumbra and the rising time are the same, and we admit that the four seasons are chaotic. Similarly, by analogy, the solar penumbra positions of the two farthest points of Jambudvipa will become the same place, because the solar setting position at the spring and autumn equinoxes of the eastern continent is the same. Furthermore, the solar rising position at the spring and autumn equinoxes of Nup Balangchö will not be the same, because the solar rising positions of the two farthest points of Jambudvipa are not the same. We admit this universality. This fault will cause great damage. Therefore, we should accept the third view, because all the above faults will not appear in the latter view, and 'the sun sets at midnight' etc. The intentions of the upper and lower scriptures are very related. How are they related? It's like this, showing how to explain the meaning of our own sect's scriptures, and how to show that other sects' ways of explaining the meaning of the scriptures are unreasonable. First, there will be two times of equinox in the four continents in a year. Like this, the spring equinox occurs simultaneously in the north and south, and the autumn equinox occurs simultaneously in the east and west. The autumn equinox occurs simultaneously in the north and south, and the spring equinox occurs simultaneously in the east and west. At that time, the sun sets at midnight, and the solar penumbra and the rising time are the same. As it is said in the Commentary on the Praise of the Earth: 'When it is the equinox, calculate it like this, otherwise consider it to have differences.' Just like it is said. In this way, this scripture determines the time of the equinox, and then determines the time of the solar turning point, or the time of the farthest point, that is, 'the second month of summer' etc. It means that from the time of the autumnal equinox, the fourth month is the time of the winter solstice solar turning point, that is, from the time of the autumnal equinox, after three months and three days, it is the time of the winter solstice solar turning point. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because this is due to the calendar system. The vernal equinox, when day and night are equal, from that time onwards, after passing through early summer and mid-summer, the second month of summer, which is the end of mid-summer, the eighth day of the waxing moon of minor summer heat, the summer solstice arrives. Because from the vernal equinox, after three months and three days, it is the summer solstice, this is due to the calendar system. The fourth month of winter is minor winter month, and the second month of summer is mid-summer month. According to what is said in the auto-commentary and the Abhidharmakosha, it must be acknowledged that minor summer heat is the end of mid-summer. If it is said that minor summer heat is another name for the second month of summer, this is not in accordance with any division of seasons, and it is a great mistake to say that the end is the eighth day of the waxing moon. Because in dividing the three stages of early, middle, and late, it is necessary to first determine the waxing moon, and then determine the date. Although it is said that the solstices occur in both minor months, it is not necessarily referring to this month alone. Because the summer and winter solstices in three years will differ by a month, the three minor months of summer and winter in three years will also be confused. If it is said in this way, minor winter month may occur in the eleventh month of the Hor calendar, major winter month may occur in the twelfth month of the Hor calendar, minor summer heat may occur in the fifth month of the Hor calendar, and major summer heat may also have to occur in the sixth month of the Hor calendar. The winter months are also as previously stated. The fourth month of winter, counted from the beginning of winter divided into three seasons, is not minor winter month, if that were the case, how would minor winter month be determined? If someone says that according to the Commentary on the Son of the King, the fourth month of winter is early spring month, and the second month of summer is early autumn month, it should be acknowledged in this way. Although it is said in the Son of the King, this statement is not in accordance with the Abhidharmakosha and the auto-commentary, as well as the commentary made by Sanghabhadra and the commentary made by Dignāga. Moreover, no matter which of the three New Year calculation methods known among the Vaibhāṣikas is adopted, it is impossible for the solstices to occur in early spring and early autumn. In the Vinaya, the time of summer is one month, and the day after that is the solstice. Dividing the three seasons of winter, spring, and summer into four months, and saying that the later summer will occur in the second month of summer, but there is no mention of the later summer occurring in the early autumn month in any text of the Vinaya.
