Therefore, from the sixteenth day of the late autumn month, it is necessary to determine the beginning of the winter month. Thus, this method does not contradict and is consistent with the teachings in the *Sutra of the Essence of the Sun*, the *Commentary on Dependent Arising*, and the *Abhidharmakosha*. It is also very consistent with the special provisions in the *Vinaya*, the timing of prohibitions and permissions, and the time when the monastic robe must be worn. Therefore, it should be understood as a reliable source. Furthermore, the so-called 'beginning of the year' or 'Smalpo month' refers to taking the new moon as a precursor and completely considering the beginning of the year from the first day of the new moon of that month. This seems to be a custom shared by outsiders and worldly people. As it is said in the treatise on vocabulary: 'The so-called beginning of the year is the name of the Smalpo month, and it is also the name of the month with the head of a gazelle.' Second, regarding the method of understanding the Uposatha: Although it is explained that way in the *Mulasarvastivada Vinaya*, it must be accepted as explained in the *Kalachakra Tantra* and practiced accordingly. This is because what is explained in the *Kalachakra Tantra* is consistent with what is manifestly established and also conforms to the wishes of the king. Thus, although there is a difference of eleven days each year, it is not counted, but only when half of the third year has passed, it is necessary to count the omitted month. Therefore, two years must have twelve auspicious days each month, and then one year will have thirteen auspicious days. By applying this cyclical calculation, there are twenty-four Uposathas in two years, and twenty-six Uposathas in the third year. This must be understood. Among the twenty-four, eighteen are only the fifteenth Uposatha, because the days after the previous Uposatha have passed, and fourteen days have ended. It is necessary to perform the Uposatha on the fifteenth day. Six are the fourteenth Uposatha, because the days after the previous Uposatha have passed, and thirteen days have ended. It is necessary to perform the Uposatha on the fourteenth day. These six are called unable to perform the Uposatha, because the auspicious day cannot compensate for the lack of days, and even if it reaches the fifteenth day, it is the Uposatha performed on the fourteenth day. These six of the fourteen must also be performed on the fifteenth day, because the *Extensive Commentary* says: 'Everything is correct in the number of auspicious days, and only the fifteenth is correct.' These six only appear in the dark month. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Because it is the Posadha (布萨) that occurs every half month in the waxing phase, taking the waxing moon as a preliminary condition. Therefore, the fifteenth Posadhas must have fifteen days and nights each, while the fourteenth ones only have fourteen days and nights each. Thus, a year only has twenty-nine days and nights, so six months will not occur. The method of calculating the dates of these six months is that the Pleiades (藏文:སྨིན་དྲུག་, meaning: star constellation) on the eighth day (藏文:ཉ་བ, meaning: eighth day) of the sixteenth day do not say the first day, but count sequentially to the fifteenth day to perform the Posadha, or count sequentially from the first day to perform the Posadha on the fifteenth day, and then that one day of Posadha must benefit the number of days and nights of the fifteenth Posadha of the following month. Some say that the fourteenth Posadha occurs on the twenty-ninth day, which is completely ignorant talk. The twenty-ninth day is the name of the fourteenth day of the waxing moon, and at that time, one day of the white portion (藏文:དཀར་ཆ, meaning: white portion) of the moon (藏文:ཟླ་བ, meaning: moon) remains, which contradicts the emptiness of the sky (藏文:གནམ་སྟོང, meaning: emptiness of the sky), because there will be no Posadha of the waxing moon when the sky is not empty. Also, some always advance the date for the sake of Posadha, which seems to be done out of arrogance, pretending to be knowledgeable without understanding the scriptures. If so, the fifteenth Posadha must be done on the fourteenth day, and the fourteenth Posadha must be done on the twenty-eighth day, which is a fault, and it always contradicts reality, and the fault of not being able to complete a year by one day will occur, but in reality, the fault of not losing one day will occur. Therefore, the fifteenth Posadhas must be counted one by one from the first day (藏文:ཚེས་གཅིག, meaning: first day) without any excess or deficiency. There is no contradiction even if the six fourteenth Posadhas are counted by advancing the date. Also, do not doubt that this is just said from the Vinaya (藏文:འདུལ་བ, meaning: Vinaya), and if calculated according to the calendar (藏文:དཀར་རྩིས, meaning: calendar), it will not match. Because according to the rules of the calendar, twelve months must also have three hundred and fifty-four days and nights without any excess or deficiency. In this way, if the calculation of Posadha is implemented as it occurs in the Vinaya, there will be no slight discrepancy with the calendar. Know this! So, which months are the six months in which Posadha cannot be performed? 'Gyal month (藏文:རྒྱལ, meaning: Gyal month), Dvo month (藏文:དབོ, meaning: Dvo month), Saga month (藏文:ས་ག, meaning: Saga month)' etc. are just examples from the 'Clear Mirror' (藏文:རྣམ་གསལ, meaning: Clear Mirror), and are not certain. If there is no intercalary month (藏文:ཟླ་ཤོལ, meaning: intercalary month), then it will match. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
