is immaculate. If you think that the Dharmakaya Tathagatagarbha is of the same nature, that is not the case. Because in the space of the basic Tathagatagarbha, all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana that appear, like the stars rising in the ocean, appear and are clear separately without being mixed, so it is far from the edge of the same kind, and is immaculate. No matter how vast and numerous the appearances of samsara and nirvana appear, just as the stars of the sea are not different from the sea, they are of the same taste in the basic Tathagatagarbha, so they are far from the edge of difference, and are immaculate. Therefore, this mind-essence Tathagatagarbha does not fall into any of the eight extremes of elaboration, and is immaculate. Secondly, the way to have the three liberations is: again, above and below, etc., without desire. It is also an emptiness that transcends the space between the upper and lower directions and time. People are attached to the upper and lower directions, etc. because of confusion, but in fact there are no upper and lower directions, etc. For example, when you reach the top of the eastern mountain called the east, the eastern mountain becomes the central mountain. After that, there is still an eastern mountain, and the former center becomes the western mountain. Similarly, it also applies to all directions up and down. Therefore, all directions up and down are indeterminate. To cling to what is indeterminate is to lie to oneself. As the great master of Oddiyana said: Those beings who cling to the non-directional as a direction, self-bound and confused are pitiful. As it is said. Emptiness pervades and fills samsara and nirvana, so it is emptiness. All external appearances are established as existent when there is nothing, but in reality there is no real thing and no real accomplishment, so it is external emptiness. Internally, if you examine your own mind-essence, it is also free from the three of birth, cessation, and dwelling, and transcends all foundations and roots, so it is internal emptiness. It is only established that external appearance and internal clinging are different, but in reality, the grasper and the grasped are not separated or established, so it is vast and pervasive, so it is an emptiness that cannot be abandoned.

It is the gate of liberation, emptiness. The basic Dharmakaya Sugata-garbha does not have the characteristics of form, shape, or color. It is separate from the characteristics that can be expressed in words, unspeakable and unthinkable, impossible to represent with metaphors, and transcends all equals. It is empty of the objects pointed out in meaning, and is the gate of liberation, without characteristics. The Dharmata Sugata-garbha has never been deluded in the past, does not abide in delusion in the present, and will not possibly be deluded in the future; it is a Sugata in the three times. Regarding this, thinking that one can go and be liberated in other realms with just the results of physical prostrations and circumambulations, verbal recitations and repetitions, mental good thoughts, meditation and mind training, worldly samadhi, and virtuous deeds of samadhi, and thinking of the vast expanse of space as a place of coming and going and as a master, is extremely confused and ignorant. So, what is the path? Abiding in one's own place is the path. What is realization? After ascertaining all phenomena included in appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana with individual discriminating wisdom, realizing the wisdom of selflessness, and thus knowing the nature, abiding, and reality of Dharmata itself, that is realization. What is liberation? From one's own nature, one becomes a Buddha oneself, rather than expecting to be reborn and liberated elsewhere; this is certain liberation. Holding onto other places of liberation and realms of liberation, and striving for them, is extremely mistaken. For this reason, from abiding in one's own place and making a self-commitment, without even the slightest longing for other results, that is the gate of liberation, without aspiration. Calling out, you, young intelligent one, like this, all phenomena included in appearance, existence, samsara, and nirvana, realizing them as equality in the way that they are bound by a single mind, merely hearing these will not liberate, but rather, one must deeply experience in one's own mind the state of abiding and reality of those things that have been said, through observation, analysis, and familiarization, so that the four unchangeable certainties of mind manifest, and then follow.
