Dharmakaya, self-nature clear Sambhogakaya. Compassion self-liberated Nirmanakaya. Pervading and expanding throughout samsara and nirvana is the Svabhavikakaya. Because it opens up all dharmas, Dharmadhatu. Because it is clear and free from turbidity, Mirror. The play of pure equality of samsara and nirvana, Equality. Because the door of wisdom of knowledge and vision is unblocked, Discriminating Awareness. Because the activity is accomplished by purification and liberation, Accomplishing Activity. Thus, the path of liberation into the self-born Buddha, awareness is also kaya.

Like a drop of water falling on the ground. The mind, viewing samsara and nirvana as its own nature, grasping appearances as real, is the ignorance of the ground's reality. From this, the arising and ceasing thoughts of mental events mix with objects, like a drop of water falling on dry land. Transforming freely at the ground level, the pure self-face of the ground's Buddha is obscured by ignorance, and the body and all the wisdom of the ground's essence merge into the radiance, the outer radiance shifts outward, manifesting in the form of five lights, spreading into the play of the five elements is: the Dharma realm wisdom is obscured by ignorance, the outer radiance appears as blue light, which is the inner element and the purity of space, called the great element. Because of the arising of true grasping and substantial clinging to the light, it appears as space, which is called the outer element, minor element, and the appearance of impurities. Mirror-like wisdom is obscured by ignorance, merging into the inner radiance, so the outer radiance appears as white light, which is the purity of water and the great element inner element. Because of the arising of substantial grasping and true clinging to it, it appears as water, which is impurities and minor element outer element. Equality wisdom is obscured by ignorance, merging into the inner radiance, so the outer radiance appears as yellow light, which is the purity of earth and the inner element great element. Because of the arising of substantial grasping and true clinging to it, it appears as earth, which is impurities minor element outer element. Discriminating wisdom is obscured by ignorance, merging into the inner radiance, so the outer radiance appears as red light, which is the purity of fire and the inner element great element. Because of the arising of substantial grasping and true clinging to it, it appears as fire, which is impurities minor element outer element. Accomplishing wisdom is obscured by ignorance, merging into the inner radiance, so the outer radiance appears as green light, which is the purity of wind and the inner element great element. Because of the arising of substantial grasping and true clinging to it, it appears as wind, which is called impurities minor element outer element. Because these light essences reside within, various colors and the appearances of the five elements appear continuously. The way these five bases of delusion manifest is as follows: Because the ground ignorance obscures it, the nature of the alaya consciousness is empty like space, not thinking or appearing anything. For example, like the state of deep sleep or fainting. In this state, vast and boundless is ignorance.

It is its nature, the great upheaval of ignorance. From this, the wind of karma of the kalpa moves, which is the nature of jealousy. Its function is that clarity emerges from emptiness, which is the alaya consciousness, abiding in the nature of hatred. From this, the clinging to self arises from the mere appearance of self, which is the afflicted mind, abiding in the nature of pride. From this, the mind becomes elated, and in the empty ground, the ability to manifest appearances is established, and clarity is revealed, abiding in the nature of desire. It is so. All of these, from the inner radiance, the five natures manifest as outer expressions. The nature of the five poisons is like fire, from which the conceptual gatherings of afflictions spread like sparks. Thus, in the space of emptiness and clarity where the alaya and mind are equally pervasive, the place where appearances spread is unobstructed. The cause of the movement of karmic winds and the potential for the ground to manifest, both causes and conditions come together, relying on the ground and relating in a way that is not different from the ground itself, various forms manifest, that is, whatever place the appearance of form spreads, it is merely nominally called eye consciousness. Therefore, the field of appearance is like an ocean, called the object; the appearance of form is like a star, called the apprehended. From this, the subtle consciousness of grasping names the form, grasps the meaning, sees it as a real thing, and arises with the discrimination of taking the three feelings of pleasure, pain, and neutrality, which is called the mind of the eye's grasping. Similarly, the place where sound spreads is unobstructed, called the object; the appearance of sound spreading is called the apprehended; the consciousness that approaches and takes is called the grasping mind. As above, it is the interdependent arising of the gathering of causes and conditions. Similarly, the appearance of smell spreading is the nose consciousness, the appearance of taste spreading is the tongue consciousness, and the appearance of touch spreading is the body consciousness, all of which are merely named with terms, and it does not appear as if the orifices are different, but it shows the state of dreams and the intermediate state. Some think that appearance is the mind, and wonder if all external appearances are conceptualizations and the reality of one's own mind, but it is not so. Appearances change from the moment of appearance, and cease and pass away in a sequence of moments before and after, while the mind transfers to the nature of those appearances, which shows that it has not become mindless.
