It is. Do you think that the outer world and inner beings (སྣོད་བཅུད་) of daytime appearances (ཉིན་སྣང་) and dreams (རྨི་སྣང་) are the same or different? If you think they are the same, then does sleep (གཉིད་) interrupt them or not? If it interrupts, then it is not a daytime appearance; if it does not interrupt, then it is not a dream. Or, there is no other way than to think that the appearance itself exists as above and below or inside and outside. " He said that. I asked the Lama again, "Then, what is the standard? What grasps the root?" I asked the Lama to teach, and the Lama said, "From all the lifetimes without beginning, although never truly born, it is only the appearance of birth. Although never truly dead, it is only the transformation of appearance, such as dreams and daytime appearances. In the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and body, all that is seen, heard, felt, tasted, and touched in the forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures is only the self-appearance appearing to oneself, Only that, and nothing else, not even a hair. If you think that what is seen with your own eyes, grasped with your hands, and experienced through the senses exists outside of yourself, then the forms, sounds, smells, tastes, and textures in dreams all seem real at that time, but when you wake up, you find that they are baseless and have never existed, which can explain the problem. From the beginningless cycle of life, there has never been migration or movement. Never lived in another place, just like the appearance of a dream. If you think that the truth and falsehood of dreams and daytime appearances are different, then look at whether the work, farming, efforts, accumulation, and storage of dreams and daytime appearances from birth to the present are the same. If you carefully observe whether these two are the same in terms of length of time and quantity, you will determine that they are the same. Moreover, if dreams are not real and daytime appearances are real, then dreams are illusions and daytime appearances are not illusions. Then, it must be thought that sentient beings are in dreams and Buddhas are in daytime appearances. If both are illusions, then the difference between truth and falsehood is meaningless. Because seeing something that is not real as real, appearance and attachment are called illusions. In the past, Mount Sumeru (རི་རབ་, Sumeru) was eaten as food, and the ocean (རྒྱ་མཚོ་) was drunk dry, but now there is no feeling of fullness; the three thousand worlds (སྟོང་གསུམ་) were worn as clothes, but there is no feeling of warmth. You should understand that these are just appearances. If you do not understand that the appearing body is empty and cling to its reality, then that is a very big mistake. Because striving for this body

Due to the power of exertion, it consumes the fruit of omniscience, hence it is called a demon of consumption; from cycle to cycle, it passes down through generations, displaying the appearance of birth and death, hence it is called the lord of death; for the sake of the body, it seeks comfort such as clothing, clings with attachment and aversion, taking and rejecting with hope and fear, thus binding and severing the life force of liberation, hence it is called the cutter of life; it steals the breath of constant bliss, hence it is also called the taker of breath. Therefore, all attachment to the appearances of the six aggregates is like a deer running after a mirage, without any essence, not even a particle can be found. Furthermore, even if one knows it is emptiness, it still remains in the state of being true as before, it does not go away, so what is the use of knowing it like that? If one does not know that the nature of what is to be meditated on is emptiness, then all meditation will certainly be in the direction of the non-indicated. Generally, even with all other visualizations of generation stage meditation, one will not be liberated by merely understanding or slightly realizing, so what reason is there that merely realizing emptiness must manifest the state of non-existence? Furthermore, if it is empty from the beginning, then knowing emptiness and not knowing emptiness are the same? However, the difference between awareness and non-awareness, knowing and not knowing, is the source of samsara and nirvana, liberation and delusion, so knowing and being aware is crucial to realize. Furthermore, some say that if one cannot realize it through one's own power, then hearing and contemplating is meaningless. However, since beginningless time, it is because one has not realized it through one's own power that one has wandered in samsara. By studying and practicing, one will realize the view of emptiness that is in accordance with all the scriptures and instructions, so please know this. Furthermore, whether one realizes emptiness after undergoing great hardships such as studying and practicing, or whether one realizes emptiness without undergoing any hardships at all, for example, finding gold after undergoing great hardships, or finding gold in a gold mine without undergoing any hardships at all, the gold itself has no good or bad quality. Thus, the discriminating wisdom that determines all appearances as emptiness is called the discriminating wisdom; the continuous stream of subsequent cognition that is definitely certain that samsara and nirvana are great emptiness is called the wisdom of realizing selflessness. Generating these two wisdoms in one's own mindstream, first realizing, then familiarizing, and finally gaining a firm conviction is the key. Furthermore, the body and other
