Consciousness and wisdom. Among the four distinctions such as the distinction between Alaya and Dharmakaya, the first is the distinction between mind and awareness. Son of the lineage, the root is unaware, etc., is great. The mind also has the deluded mind of appearance clinging, and the mind of seeking the path of elimination and acceptance, and the naked seeing awareness, these three. The first is, for sentient beings who do not seek the path themselves, and for the minds of sentient beings who have not seen the gates of the true path, etc. The second is, the mind looks at the mind, the conceptual thought looks at the conceptual thought, and the awareness looks at the conceptual thought, and the wisdom and consciousness together create and eliminate acceptance, happiness and suffering, which is merely using the mind as a path for seeking the path. The third is, the basis of the mind, the ordinary awareness manifests without interruption, that is also the function of not realizing the view, the external appearance becomes unspecified, and from the appearance clinging to reality, so the clinging to reality does not return. The inner self becomes unspecified, so the clinging to reality that the body clings to as real does not return. For both of them, they become unspecified and cling to self-continuity, so they do not surpass the mind, that is also called mind. In short, not recognizing the abiding way of the base, and not understanding the characteristics, the nature of ignorance, the ability to become the plan of various conceptual thoughts, the mind is born and dies, with the conceptual thoughts of flowing memory clinging to the object and being controlled by the object, is the characteristic of the mind. Its essence is unawareness, its ability is conceptual thought, the eight consciousness aggregates of mind and mental factors together, the radiance is appearance, and the function is conventional. Awareness is the essence of the base, the manifestation of the three bodies of pure equality, and the ability of awareness transforming into great wisdom is the characteristic of awareness. Such Dharmakaya, abiding in the awareness of the base, is the way of abiding that is free from the limits of vastness, free from elaboration. The nature of body and wisdom, fully understanding everything as it is, is the awareness of the base. Relying on such a supreme guru's oral instructions, the state and reality of the base's Dharma nature, etc., are empty and clear, uncompounded, naturally accomplished, and clear and bright without turbidity. The nature of awareness, the great clear light, manifests, is the awareness of the path. Thus, the awareness of the base manifests, and the path reaches the ultimate, and the ability is perfected, the two gather simultaneously in the base.

That which is called "the all-pervading principle of empowerment, the Great Perfection" is the principle of the fruit. Its essence is the three kayas: Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya, and Nirmanakaya. Its function is wisdom, and its activity is ultimate truth. Second, the difference between mind and wisdom is called "the beginning of discrimination." Mind is the clear light of the nature of mind, the basis from which various transformations of discrimination arise, and the unceasing gateway through which all appearances of the outer and inner worlds manifest. This is called mind. Within its space, the appearances of seeing, hearing, feeling, sensing, and touching arise, the six sense gates are never closed, and all appearances are perceived as distinct. This is called the mind's discriminating consciousness. Wisdom is that all of samsara and nirvana are absorbed into the space of the great emptiness, and that the state of completeness is known and understood as it is. This is the wisdom of the base. Ultimately, the awareness of the Dharmakaya Tathagatagarbha is realized, and the awareness is pure and undefiled, free from the defilements of conceptual thought. Clarity and emptiness are without attachment, and the gateway of self-luminous wisdom never closes. This is the wisdom of the path. When these two are equally blended and appear simultaneously, it is the great wisdom of Samantabhadra, which is the all-pervading wisdom. Third, the difference between the consciousness and wisdom is called "the beginning of desire." Wisdom is. Consciousness is the uninterrupted appearance of desire arising in the space of mind, with its own nature of clarity and luminosity. It enters the paths of the various faculties and apprehends objects without conceptualization when they are encountered. Because it looks outward through the gates of the various senses, the five sense consciousnesses arise in the appearances of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Apprehending appearances as distinct objects, Taking the karma wind as a mount, naming things and clinging to them as real, this is called mind consciousness. Because the earlier and later, subtle and coarse consciousnesses exist simultaneously, samsara is completely established. Wisdom is the Dharmata Tathagatagarbha, in the great realm where the three kayas are equally blended, knowing as it is the state of the Sambhogakaya, wisdom, path, and all fruits. Knowing, seeing the basic reality, is the wisdom of knowing as it is. Such is the state of Dharmata Thusness.
