Having gone to (evil paths), various non-virtuous actions are started. Since one has not gained confidence and stability in the practice of exhausting life in suffering, all views, meditations, and actions are overwhelmed by delusion and the activities of samsara, which is because even if one recognizes it, one is not accustomed to it. If it is not like that, but one has not lost the state of profound view, and is certain of the play of the equality of samsara and nirvana, and the practice of ༄༅། །confidence is not lost, like being accompanied by the clarity of the clear ocean, abiding in the state of manifest awareness, and between phenomena and dharmata, the conduct does not lose the direction of view, adjusting the key points of body, speech, and mind, abandoning non-virtue like poison. Like this, in the direction of conduct, the view is not confused, for example, no claws can overwhelm, just as a lion with turquoise mane stands on a snowy mountain, all claws will be overwhelmed, and nothing can approach. A yogi who has perfected the three essentials of profound view and meditation, by transforming all external appearances into autonomy, overwhelms everything, and must not fall into the path of effort. Now, the three wrong paths of experience are explained: the appearance of experience, etc., is the view. The appearance of experience is that the mind and the stream of consciousness present a blissful appearance that is different from before, like glue, and if one clings to this and gains stability, one will be thrown into the desire realm; and the clear appearance that is thrown into the form realm, presenting a brightness that is different from before; and the subtle siddhi appears, and if one clings to this, one will be thrown into the form realm; and the empty experience that is thrown into the four formless realms, non-conceptual, emptiness with the mouth facing inward, unconscious, ignorance, subtle clinging is latent, like deep sleep. For the view, unfamiliar with emptiness, merely making a decision on the nature of the empty mind, the non-establishment of things, and abiding single-pointedly in emptiness, this is the peak of existence, the view of being thrown into the realm of non-perception, knowing this, do not be controlled by it, whatever arises, know that everything is an unreal appearance of experience, thereby grasping the root of awareness. Furthermore, external instigation, etc., is change. Furthermore, external instigation, the magical powers of gods and demons, drought and ominous omens, etc.

In a certain place, various kinds of miracles occur, and various forms of gods, demons, and evil spirits appear. In dreams, one sees ugly images, or experiences restlessness due to being startled awake, leading to various kinds of mental and emotional unease. Or, illnesses arise due to food, dwelling, or fright. Or, it becomes difficult to recover from contact with soil, stones, trees, or weapons. Or, diseases such as sores, leprosy, and eye ailments suddenly appear. Internally arising physical illnesses, such as the four hundred and four types of imbalances caused by disturbances of wind, bile, and phlegm, manifest. All mental talents and powers seem to disappear in that illness, causing unspeakable suffering and various pains. Secretly arising mental happiness and suffering are the unease that arises in the mind's own realm, such as attachment, hatred, clinging, unbearable suffering, joy, sadness, experiencing emptiness and clarity yet clinging to it, or being empty and dazed, with appearances and mind becoming disconnected. All sights and sounds appear as harmful. Due to anger and harmful intent, one disturbs others and later regrets it. Or, one develops the arrogance of thinking that there is no yogi or meditator like oneself in the world, and all of one's actions appear to be good and beautiful, leading to unrestrained behavior, and so on, with uncertain happiness and suffering arising in the mind. If one clings to these as real, with hope and doubt, it becomes a sickness of practice. If one relies on these as ghosts, even if one strives for exorcism, rituals, and medical treatment, it is of no benefit, not even as much as a sesame seed. If one cannot recognize these phenomena, one may die from madness, fainting, etc., becoming a factor endangering life. Or, one may suddenly become like livestock, knowing nothing. In the clear appearances of calm abiding practice, various uncertain phenomena such as the appearance of deities, the appearance of ghosts, and clairvoyance of others' minds may arise. If one clings to these phenomena, it will lead the practitioner to degenerate into an ordinary person. All of these must be recognized as the characteristics of false practice, and one must resolve to let them naturally disappear, and one must learn this. That is, no matter what kind of happiness, suffering, or experiences arise, one must recognize them as unreal.
