It is key to rely on a virtuous spiritual friend. If you rely on a lama but do not keep your samaya, both lama and disciple will fall into the lower realms. Therefore, it is key to protect your samaya without breaking it. It is key to have devotion, taking whatever the lama says as valid, and seeing whatever he does as Dharma. Without being biased, with pure faith, like a river, without any slackening. Even if your life is at stake, do not break the lama's command. The essence of all buddhas combined is the lama. Without even a moment of wrong view arising, seeing whatever he does as signs and Dharma, meditate on the crown of your head so that blessings may enter. Having received the four empowerments, with intense devotion, mingle the lama's mind and your own mind inseparably. Rest evenly in the state of primordial purity, free from elaboration. In that way, the lama's blessings may enter. Without relying on a lama, there is no time to attain buddhahood. Without keeping samaya, there is no way to receive the four empowerments. Without bodhicitta, there is no way to meditate on emptiness. Without subduing afflictions, there is no realization of Dzogchen. Without cutting off self-grasping, there is no arising of selflessness. Without compassion, there is no accomplishing the two benefits. Without faith, it is difficult for blessings to enter. If one's own desires are great, it is difficult to benefit others. Now, if you think of practicing the Dharma from the heart, renounce your homeland as if it were a land of rakshasas. Rely on solitude, and be alone by yourself. Practice according to the lama's instructions; practice is key. Do not let the body be idle; purify obscurations. Do not let the speech be idle; recite mantras. With one-pointed mind, entrust yourself to the Three Jewels. Then, settle the three realms of existence from their source. In between, observe the three kinds of abiding, moving, and knowing. Strike those in succession, unerringly, at their essential points. When the afflictions of your own mind-stream have become antidotes, taming that very mind of yours, like a horn, is key. Settle the view of your own mind, and in meditation, seize only your own faults. Behavior must be peaceful and endowed with mindfulness. The basis is to have bodhicitta, and on the path, exert yourself diligently, without slackening, in the Dharma. The result is that both yourself and others attain liberation. I do not know any Dharma that is superior to that. This, too, is like the thoughts in a beggar woman's mind, like a parrot's words, speaking to others without having tamed one's own mind-stream, like a blind person leading a blind person, but hold in your mind what your mother offered so that your face may not turn away. Otherwise, you do not know the oral instructions.

Hush! For the old woman practicing samsara, All the teachings she had were taken away, causing laughter. The sky of Mother Samantabhadri, The young child of awareness dwells inseparably. The needs of a worldly child are small, In the space of the mother of awareness, There is an unchanging child of awareness. Drinking the milk of uncontaminated samadhi, Playing in the vast expanse of being. Accompanied by the five self-born dakinis, Watching the spectacle of phenomenal existence. By looking outward, it becomes clear inward. In the state of clarity and emptiness, looking with mindfulness. The needs of a child of the eight worldly dharmas are small, Of awareness that is free from arising, ceasing, and abiding, Accompanied by me, the young child. What you see is very wondrous. Close the door of speech and practice meditation. Other than that, I have nothing to say. This is said by the lazy beggar woman. Alas! In the expanse of Mother Samantabhadri, All phenomena of samsara and nirvana have become empty. Mother of clear light, utterly inexpressible, Freed from the objects of grasping and being grasped from the very beginning. In the all-pervading, unattached expanse of the Mother, When meeting the child of unattached awareness, It enters into the original, primordial state. That very Mother, free from sides and limits, In the nature free from the expression of bliss and emptiness, Nurturing the child in a spontaneously accomplished state, Dissolving into the unattached great emptiness. Mingling as one taste in the expanse of the Dharmakaya, The two Kayas in union, emptying samsara, Attaining the state of Samantabhadra. This was also caused by the circumstances of the environment, the beggar woman remembering her mother, and in a time of sorrow and tears, consoling herself, these are my false words, full of all faults. Good! Alas, excellent child of my heart, By cherishing the view of the true nature, Meeting the Mother in an inseparable state. In the unmade, unmeditated, unscattered state, Meeting the Mother in a spontaneously accomplished state. Conduct like water and waves, Meeting the Mother in an inseparably self-liberated state. Other than that, the way to meet Is very difficult. Mother, child of my heart, Practice as your father has said. Because it is heart-speech, hold it in your mind. Do you understand, child of my heart? You and I are never separate. When appearing unceasingly in the sky of unbornness, All phenomena abide in the symbolic picture. Otherwise, don't speak crazy words, lie down and sleep! Good! To the Lama Rinpoche, the embodiment of all refuges, I pray.
