In a state of openness, all thoughts and appearances, good, bad, or indifferent, naturally dissolve like water merging into water. This is the manifest abiding of awareness. This is the key realization of the profound view of mind beyond, primordial liberation. Thus, based on possessing the key points of hearing, contemplation, and meditation, one decides with view, maintains in meditation, and abandons in conduct. By cultivating luminosity day and night without interruption, one manifests the self-face of Kuntuzangpo, the primordial ground, and arrives at the ground of liberation. Like this, without realization, merely relying on understanding, one goes astray in the practice of emptiness of mind, follows after appearances of objects, and modifies the meaning of the ultimate Great Perfection with intellectual judgment, and considers all thoughts grasped by mindfulness and clinging to be wisdom. If it appears to be free from mindfulness and clinging, they consider discursive thoughts to be neutral. Such things are far from recognizing awareness, and they have not even understood the key point of the spontaneous liberation of movement. Therefore, they are still stuck at the boundary between appearance and mind. For example, it is like water that is naturally liberated being trapped in a sheath of ice. Therefore, it is important to cut off doubts about one's own practice. Although the Great Perfection's own path lacks faults such as deviation, loss, and error, due to the level of beings' minds, the paths appear in many different ways. But in reality, when one sees the nature of one's own awareness as it is, it is not deliberately seeking meditation, nor is it becoming neutral by not meditating, but abiding in the vast, unconfined state of great wisdom free from effort and activity, which is samadhi. Merely not losing the state of view in post-meditation is like the sky without beginning or end. Not abandoning the state of meditation is like the ocean accompanied by clarity. Without letting conduct become unrestrained, luminosity is mixed into the cycle of day and night, and awareness is placed in vastness. Knowledge is maintained in a natural, uncreated state. Thoughts and concepts are naturally liberated like writing on water. Thus, the experience of non-birth naturally arises continuously like the flow of a great river. Like this, at the end of practicing properly, one gains stability in the awareness of the inseparability of ground and result, and thus manifests the self-face of Kuntuzangpo Dharmakaya.

In the clear expanse, liberation into the youthful vase body is certain. This was written at the earnest request of Shakya Bikshu, a devoted disciple, who insisted on this being written; unable to refuse, it is written under the name "Happiness." May it be virtuous! If viewed from the perspective of a mindless old woman, the primordial, unerring wisdom, if it manifests, then in that state, let awareness naturally abide without alteration. Even if a slight appearance of wandering arises from that abiding, it is like a wave dissolving into the ocean, returning to its own place and becoming clear. Various appearances arise, yet they are naturally liberated without attachment. Awareness may seem to wander in fragments, but like cutting water with a sword, it is free from the realm of benefit and harm. In the very moment of appearance, it does not stray from the realm of emptiness, the nature of reality, like rainwater mingling with water, without distinction. In short, whatever appears, whatever arises, vanishes like camphor in the wind. Awareness remains unchanged in the state of the nature of reality, vast like the expanse of the sky, free from the mind's fabrication and effort. In this appearance, so-called "meditative absorption" is like laying down a cushion; so-called "awareness" is like welcoming a guest—both are things with form. Furthermore, so-called "post-meditation" is like a thief, requiring one to trace its tracks. This kind of primordial mind, though I have sought it for many days, I have not found it. Now, not only is awareness not seen by the mind's eye, but all appearing objects have vanished like images in a mirror, like a butter lamp in a painting. Haha! This is written, having heard some practitioners debating, though I observed with my own mind's intellect, I could not determine it, so it is recorded in writing, a false statement by Happiness Vajra. May it be virtuous! Moreover, once the effortless awareness is recognized, one only needs to abide in the uncorrected, natural great state, using this as the path. Is there a need to seek a path of alternation? If one must establish the names "meditation" and "post-meditation," then "meditation" is like the sky, free from bias, without arising or ceasing, bondage or liberation, existence or non-existence, coming or going, samsara or nirvana—not even the slightest mental fabrication. Vast and boundless, free from elaboration, it is completely merged with the great realm of the pure Dharmakaya. In "post-meditation," like iron ore transformed into gold, relying on the key points of the instructions for the self-liberation of the six consciousnesses, the essential instruction of the meeting of awareness, all appearances are self-arising and self-liberating in the nature of reality of awareness itself.
