Just as knowing things as they are, the wisdom that knows the suchness of things, and the essence of rigpa, although abiding in emptiness and clarity without contrivance, is not something that understands nothing at all. It is not stained by objects, does not grasp objects, does not cut off objects, and is not controlled by objects. This is seeing as it is. Because it is the self-arisen wisdom of rigpa, the wisdom that knows all and sees all arises naturally without obstruction, and does not fall into objects. It is like mercury falling on a flat surface. Mind is the self-nature of samsara and nirvana, regarding it as truly existent, and the fundamental ignorance that grasps appearances as real things. The thoughts of mental events that arise from this are subject to arising and ceasing, mixing with objects, being stained by objects, grasping objects, and being controlled by objects. This is like a drop of water falling on dry land. In short, rigpa is the nature of being free from elaboration and possessing the three liberations, pervading and expanding throughout samsara and nirvana. Mind is fundamental ignorance, the activity of mental events, and the manifestation of regarding outer and inner phenomena as self-existent, subject to arising and ceasing. In Tögal (Breakthrough), based on the three immovables, one should know how to seek the key points of the four: doors, objects, winds, and rigpa. The body should remain in any of the three postures, and the eyes should not be separated from the three ways of looking. It is crucial to manifest the lamp of the pure sky of the dharmadhatu. By striving in this way, within that dharmadhatu, the activity of the lamp of empty thigle and the lamp of self-arisen wisdom gradually becomes complete. Up to the three-linked thigle, the nature of reality manifests, and the appearance of the single body increases. The appearance of the five families in union with their retinue reaches its peak. When these activities are complete, they dissolve into the inner dharmadhatu, and receiving the empowerment of great light and so on is the boundary of the exhaustion of the nature of reality. In short, the four visions are as described above, and the six lamps are: the lamp of citta flesh is the heart; the lamp of the white, soft channels is the supreme golden sun; the lamp of the far-reaching water is the mandala of water, half black and half white. These three are the three lamps of the outer vessel. Furthermore, the essence of the five outer elements is the lamp of the pure sky of the dharmadhatu; the essence of the five inner elements is the lamp of the empty thigle; the essence of mind is the lamp of self-arisen wisdom, or the vajra chain of rigpa radiance.

These three are referred to as the three lamps of essence. In short, Trekchö (Tibetan) is the clear light of emptiness, and Tögal (Tibetan) is the clear light of appearance, so it must be understood that they have the same meaning. When practicing, do not engage in acceptance or rejection, negation or affirmation, regarding the arising and ceasing of the dharmadhatu and bindus, but repeatedly practice in the great abiding of dharmata, which is the most precious key point. This was written by Dewei Dorje according to the wishes of Lama Thubten Gyatso. Good! Good! Additional notes on Tögal (Tibetan): With the wisdom of knowing reality as it is (Tibetan), control the ground, know that the manifestation of the six lamps is uninterrupted, and with the wisdom of seeing all that exists (Tibetan), control the path, grasp the extent of the growth of the dharmadhatu and bindus. Because the wisdom of knowing reality as it is and seeing all that exists manifests, the state of the equality of the three kayas, dharmata, is directly seen. Knowing reality as it is (Tibetan) refers to the wisdom of knowing all aspects, and seeing all that exists (Tibetan) is great wisdom without attachment or obstruction. Wisdom (Tibetan) means seeing the characteristics of these two and not being defiled by the stains of grasping and clinging. This was also written by Dewei Dorje in response to a question from Lama Chödrag. Good! Good! Good! Among all the Dharma teachings and treasures, I think there is nothing more supreme than the clear light Great Perfection. Therefore, determine its meaning with view, sustain its state with meditation, and abandon attachment with action, so that awareness abides in the state of being beyond words, beyond thought, and beyond expression, distinguishing between clarity and emptiness without attachment by nature, distinguishing between whatever arises as the display of energy without clinging to it, and distinguishing between the key points of abiding without reliance or attachment. Resting in the dharmadhatu of the equality of the three kayas, enjoying the qualities of the spontaneously accomplished body and the path of wisdom, and the four visions, I think that is enough. This was written by Dewei Dorje in response to a question from Go Tsé Khenchen. Advice on the supreme Dharma: A brief introduction to how awareness is recognized as the four kayas and five wisdoms: The nature of mind is emptiness and clarity, uncompounded, and abiding in that state is called abiding; in that state of recognizing it, various thoughts arise, which is called movement; and knowing that the nature of movement is clear, empty, and naked is called awareness. In reality, abiding, movement, and awareness are not different, and the nature of one's own abiding is emptiness, free from elaboration.
