Give to the Bhikshus. The water flows smoothly like a blue river. At that time, they also sang songs. Taking the feet of a young Ḍombī and placing them on their head, they requested to follow. The one who attended was Ḍombī Heruka. The fame of the Ganges (Gaṅgā) reversing three times spread throughout the three realms. The Buddhists rejoiced and danced, while the demons and heretics were frightened and terrified. In the south, in a place called Bhīmesvara, there is a Liṅga (phallic symbol) of Mahādeva (Shiva) made of black stone, eighteen cubits high and equally thick, with four faces. In front of the eastern face of Brahmā (the Hindu god of creation), those who preach cleanliness as Dharma bathe, hold kuśa grass in their hands, and perform peaceful fire sacrifices. In front of the northern face of Mahādeva, those who preach desire as Dharma engage in sexual intercourse, and after three times, they wipe the semen from the bhaga (vulva) with a fish-shaped object and scatter it. In front of the western face of Viṣṇu (the preserver god), those who preach violence as Dharma kill birds, buffaloes, and other animals, and scatter blood. In front of the southern face of Mahābhairava (a fierce form of Shiva), those who preach asceticism and generosity as Dharma impale five people on a trident (trīśūla), kill them, collect their heads, hang their five limbs, and offer their own bodies and lives as sacrifices with a thousand ropes. At that time, the entire domain of the patron king Nalendra Pātivarma was heretical. Therefore, he went to the king and offered countless praises to the king in Sanskrit (saṃskṛta), which greatly pleased him. He appointed the teacher as the leader of his five hundred heretical jaṭila (matted-hair ascetics) priests. He taught them the black magic (nāg popa) instructions and had them practice it. Ḍombī Heruka controlled their minds through the practice of tantra, making their wisdom and speculation empty. The teacher completed his vows, hung a garland of flowers on a book of eight thousand verses (aṣṭasāhasrikā), offered incense and lamps, and prostrated, but did not worship the heretical objects. Therefore, those jaṭila priests said to the king, 'This person seems to be a Buddhist and does not worship the objects of Mahādeva.' The teacher, who was proficient in Sanskrit and the leader of five hundred jaṭila priests, could not possibly not worship the objects of Mahādeva; you are just jealous.' The king repeated this sentence many times. Three years passed, and the king came and said, 'Today we are going to offer a grand sacrifice to the objects of Mahādeva, whom we worship. Everyone should come to the objects.' But the teacher did not come. The king repeatedly invited him, and he came, first placing the book there, and then offering and prostrating to the book. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Someone asked, 'Are there Vedas here?' The answer was, 'There is the Eight Thousand Verse Prajñāpāramitā.' The king, in order to bless it, performed the touching ritual, but the statue said, 'I cannot bear your touch. There is nothing greater than me in the three realms.' The touching ritual was repeated. Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava) stood up and said, 'This statue cannot bear my touch.' He repeatedly sought the king's opinion from those with matted hair. They said, 'Your Majesty, you are too powerful, raising a fox in a tiger's den. Perhaps even a lion cannot bear the touch of a fox.' Because Guru Rinpoche was oppressed by the king and obstructed by those ignorant people with matted hair, he could not perform the touching ritual, so he said, 'Please bring the four great worldly gods.' Then, with his right hand forming the Tarjani Mudra (threatening gesture), he placed it on the top of his head and recited 'Namo Buddhāya' (藏文:ན་མོ་བུདྡྷ་ཡ་,梵文天城体:नमो बुद्धाय,梵文罗马拟音:Namo Buddhāya,皈依佛陀). The eastern Brahma split open. With his hand forming the Tarjani Mudra, he placed it on his forehead and recited 'Namo Dharmāya' (藏文:ན་མོ་དྷརྨཱ་ཡ་,梵文天城体:नमो धर्माय,梵文罗马拟音:Namo Dharmāya,皈依佛法). The northern Ishvara split open. With his hand forming the Tarjani Mudra, he placed it on his throat and recited 'Namo Saṃghāya' (藏文:ན་མོ་སཾ་གྷ་ཡ་,梵文天城体:नमो संघाय,梵文罗马拟音:Namo Saṃghāya,皈依僧伽). The western Ishvara split open. With his hand forming the Tarjani Mudra, he placed it on his heart and recited 'Namo Gurubhyaḥ' (藏文:ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་བྷྱེ།,梵文天城体:नमो गुरुभ्यः,梵文罗马拟音:Namo Gurubhyaḥ,皈依上师). The southern Yama split open. The statue split into four pieces and fell in four directions. The king and those with matted hair fainted. After waking up, all the patrons prostrated at the feet of Guru Rinpoche. 'We, these patrons and all the people, request you to compassionately accept us, and we will follow all your instructions and also offer this statue. Please instruct us on what to do.' Guru Rinpoche said, 'Listen, all of you subjects must enter the Vajrayana. Place the statue of Avalokiteśvara on top of this statue. If you remove the Avalokiteśvara statue, this statue will be destroyed. Abandon all impure offerings such as blood and flesh. With the offerings of the three white and three sweet substances, first offer one-third to Avalokiteśvara, offer the remaining one-third to the statue, and enjoy the last one-third yourselves. Give the remaining inferior offerings to the poor and dogs. Only then can the statue be properly venerated.' Everyone promised and took an oath. Guru Rinpoche venerated the statue in a receptive manner and placed a cubit-high stone statue of Avalokiteśvara on top of the statue. He warned them, 'If you do not circumambulate and make offerings, or if you remove the Avalokiteśvara statue, your statue will turn to dust.' In the south, there was a person named Stampa Tratipa, who made an eighty-cubit-high statue of Ishvara out of red sandalwood, and sacrificed hundreds of living beings every day for worship. Guru Rinpoche went to subdue him, accompanied by Dhamala, one of the most knowledgeable scholars of the Vedas among those with matted hair. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
