Then, having blessed him, he practiced in places like the Victory Cave of the Wind (Rlung las rnam rgyal), and having attained clairvoyance and miraculous powers, in charnel grounds like Utsayana (U tsa ya na), with extremely simple conduct, he made samsara and nirvana equal. He accomplished countless benefits for the Buddha's teachings and sentient beings. The Black One (Nag po pa) said, 'Please bless the lineage of King Lion Victorious (Seng ge rnam par rol ba) of Magadha (Ma ga dha).' When the fame of Dharmapa (Dha ma pa) going to Matana (Ma ta nar) was heard by Dharma Increase (Chos kyi rgyas po), he was invited to the palace, and received lavish service and respect. After taking his feet to his head, he requested to be accepted, and Dharmapa gave him empowerment and instructions on the oral teachings. The king entrusted the kingdom to his eldest son and practiced in the Cave of Pleasing the Eastern Dakini (Shar mkha' 'gro mnyes pa'i brag phug), attaining clairvoyance and miraculous powers. He maintained secret conduct in the eight great charnel grounds and so forth, making samsara and nirvana equal. Later, he returned to the second palace, and as a hidden yogi, he maintained conduct that abandoned duality, becoming Awadhutipa (A wa dhU ti pa). The Lord of Yoga, Dharmapa, said, 'Please bless the lineage of King Rupa Chanda (Ru pa tSaNDa) of Eastern Bengal (Shar bham ga la), the great scribe of Akshe (A kShe'i), and Gayadhara Patasi (Ga ya dha ra pa ta si), the great pandit who knows the five sciences, the master of all mantras and characteristics.' 1-94 'When the time comes for you to request the oral instructions and practice them, send someone to tell me.' So the king sent a messenger with a letter. The messenger's name matched the auspicious omens. He came to Awadhutipa (A wa dhU ti pa), and after preliminary prostrations and respect, he took his feet to his head and requested to be accepted, which was granted. Awadhutipa gave him empowerment and instructions on the oral teachings, and bestowed the transmission for practice. Through the practice of hidden yoga, he realized samsara and nirvana as dream and illusion. In the fire pit of the fire offering, he saw the entire mandala completely, so there were no obstacles to the four activities. He could place the vajra and bell in the sky, sit in the sky in the lotus posture, and having mastered transference ('pho ba) and entering another's body (grong 'jug), he became the great pandit yogi Gayadhara Pasi (Ga ya dha ra pa si). The two great kings abandoned their kingdoms. The Black One (Nag po pa) prophesied and blessed Khasarpani (Khar sa pa Ni), saying, 'Please bless the lineage that will become the king's guru beside the Tibetan great translator Rohita When Pandit Gayadhara (Ga ya dha ra) asked, thinking he was the Drogmi translator ('Brog mi lo tsA ba), he went to Mugulung (Mu gu lung) to investigate, and after confirming it, he imparted the Four Whispered Lineages (snyan rgyud bzhi) to the great translator Drogmi Shakya Yeshe Immovable Vajra ('Brog mi shAkya ye shes mi bskyod rdo rje), who then passed them on to Seton Kunrig Shedang Dorje (Se ston kun rig zhe sdang rdo rje). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1-95

Then to Zhangton Chobar Rolwai Dorje (Zhangton Chobar, Playful Vajra), then to Lachen Sakya Penchenpo Kunga Nyingpo Mikyo Dorje (Great Lama Sakya Great Kunga Nyingpo, Immovable Vajra), then to Jetsun Tsemoche (Venerable Tsemoche), then to Jepa Khuwoen (Uncle and Nephew). Then to Phakpa Lodro Gyaltsen (Holy Intelligence Banner), then to the last master of the lineage of the 'axis' that expounds the scriptures as they are, named Changpo Chagen (Wanderer Chagen). In order to purify the source of the Dharma and cut off the prolixity of subsequent followers. From various different histories, scattered teachings and key instructions of previous lamas and Dharma friends, I, the ignorant Chagen, abandoned the superfluous, filled in the missing, and arranged the confused, and wrote this history. In the ascending moon of the middle month of the Wood Dragon year (1244), in the upper chamber of the Rinkhang, in front of the image of Drogon Chogyal Rinpoche (Protector of Beings, Dharma King Rinpoche), may it be auspicious! I confess errors and dedicate the merit, may all beings quickly attain omniscience! Auspicious! Auspicious! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
