Accept these sacred substance offerings, may the Buddha's teachings flourish, may the holders of the teachings live long, and may the world be peaceful and happy. In particular, may the obstacles and hindrances of us yogis be pacified, may our lifespan and merit increase, and may all our wishes be fulfilled. With this praise, we entrust the activities. Complete any deficiencies with the Hundred Syllable Mantra. If there is a painted image of the deity in front, dissolve into it; if not, dissolve into oneself. With this merit, may the extent of the sky be filled... and so on, dedicate the merit. A form as black as the terrifying clouds of the end of time, a voice of 'Hum Phat,' like the roaring of a thousand dragons, a mind of great expanse that pacifies all elaborations, may the glorious and powerful Mahakala be auspicious! By whose power, the hundred gods collapse like tiles; by merely hearing his name, one is liberated from sickness and evil spirits. The one who wanders through the three realms at night, may the auspiciousness of Machig (Tibetan: མ་ཅིག་, literally: one mother), the mistress of the three realms, prevail! Emanating billions, filling the three realms; cutting down the armies of demons, bestowing accomplishments; protecting the teachings and the holders of the teachings like a child, may the auspiciousness of all the messengers and workers prevail! Thus, make great auspiciousness. This was written for the benefit of some beginners by the glorious Sakya translator Jamyang Kunga Sonam Drakpa Gyaltsen Pel Zangpo, and the scribe was Dawa Drakpa. The Mahakala Torma Ritual: Victory Over Obstacles and Demons. Namo Shri Mahakalaya (Tibetan: ན་མཿཤྲཱཱི་མ་ཧཱ་ཀཱ་ལཱ་ཡ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: नमः श्रीमहाकालाय, Sanskrit Romanization: namaḥ śrīmahākālāya, Literal Chinese Meaning: Homage to Glorious Great Black One). Homage to the Supreme Guru and the Yidam deity, and to the ocean of oath-bound beings. Following the tradition of the Sakya Jetsun, I will briefly write the Torma ritual. Wishing to offer Torma to the glorious Hevajra and Mahakala Gurgyikpo (Lord of the Tent) and their retinue, in front of oneself, arrange a representation of the Protector's form or a painted image. In front of it, arrange a pure and pleasing Torma, such as a round Torma for the Yidam, or a round Torma for the Protector, or one with the upper two-thirds triangular and the lower one-third round, surrounded by hooks in the form of lotus petals. In front of that, from right to left, arrange two waters, the five preliminary sensory offerings, and near oneself, a vajra and bell. The inner offering is liquor mixed with amrita pills. Purify the Torma, inner offering, and water and liquor in order. Abiding in the pride of oneself as the Yidam or the Protector, sprinkle the inner offering and Torma with the tip of the vajra, reciting: Om Vajra Amrita Kundali Hana Hana Hum Hum Hum Phat.
