The four completely gather sentient beings. What are they? It is for the sake of desiring the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Therefore, completely abandoning killing, taking what is not given, sexual misconduct, lying, and wrong views. Having taken these five bases of training for bodhisattva householders, one should learn the trainings as they have been taught, and with faith, emulate the past tathagatas. Abiding in the unconditioned, unsurpassed aggregate of moral discipline, praised by the tathagatas, one should practice the conditioned moral discipline with complete mastery of skillful means and wisdom. The four root downfalls should not be completely abandoned even for the sake of one's life. What are the four? They are abandoning the sacred Dharma, abandoning the mind of enlightenment, being stingy, and harming sentient beings. Why is that? Because these lack skillful means and wisdom, are inherently afflicted, and cannot be restored. Why is that? Those who are past Buddhas, as well as those who have not yet come, and also the present protectors, by relying on those who possess skillful means and wisdom, having trained, will obtain unsurpassed enlightenment through the unconditioned. Wisdom and training that lack skillful means, as well as what is taught, the great hero taught them in order to lead the shravakas into this. Thus it was said. Therefore, not only are the root downfalls alone common with the practice of the perfections, but also most of the thirteen root vows are also common. That is, like this: to generate firm faith in the Three Jewels, to regard the virtuous friend as equal to the Buddha and not abandon them even for the sake of one's life, to always have faith in the Dharma of no self-nature, to make the mind of enlightenment firm, to be loving towards those who have entered the Great Vehicle, not to rely on the treatises of other teachings, to properly uphold the sacred Dharma spoken by the Buddha Bhagavan, not to reveal the secret training of the bodhisattvas to those who are not vessels, to generate the limbs of the accumulation of merit, and to rely on solitary places, thus it was said. Just a moment.

In short, in order to desire all liberation and happy migrations through pleasing one's own deity, it is not uncommon to strive for the practice of secret mantras through mantras and mudras. However, for those bodhisattvas who have entered the Paramita path, it is not that the signless mudra and the Dharma mudra have not been taught, nor is it that the method of burning sins through recitation has not been taught, and similarly, it is not that contemplating the body of the Tathagata has not been taught. Although this is the case, as stated in the Tantric tradition, only these are mainly practiced, and only these are learned, and others are also perfected, and these are not taught as fundamental vows. Therefore, these, in relation to the Paramita path, will become special precepts. For all Tantric traditions, they will become common precepts. These are the fundamental vows that have been taught. The branch vows are also branches and distinctions of these fundamental vows, such as the branch of not respecting the Vajra Master and not relying on goodness; the branch of being stingy and lacking respect towards the Three Jewels due to the weakness of the root of faith; the branch of associating with incompatible friends; the branch of allowing the mind of enlightenment to wither in the continuum of oneself or others due to ignorance; the branch of abandoning the holy Dharma; the branch of harmful intent; the branch of miserliness and attachment; and the branch of arrogance and pride in the continuum of these two; the branch of the accumulation of merit; the branch of recitation; the branch of abandoning the deity; and all that is said in the detailed rituals that belong to the branches and sub-branches of these are also included in the root and branch vows. From these vows, the distinction between what should be constantly protected and what should be protected at times is known as the increasing vow. Due to the scriptures, deities, and individuals, they are known as common and special vows. Therefore, for now, I will briefly state the individual branches from the roots of the common vows that have been taught, and it should be known that this is also the common precept of all scriptures, deities, and individuals.
