On the ground, virtuous dharmas do not arise. Therefore, abandon all wrong views and rely on right view. It is excellent to always keep the mind on the path of the ten virtues. Thus it is said. The root of downfall is also said to be abandoning stinginess, arrogance, pride, and harm. Furthermore, it is also said that one should generate the mind of enlightenment with faith and rely on the Three Jewels with faith, and so on. In the chapter on the detailed explanation of the discipline rituals of secret mantras from the "Noble Accomplishment," it is said that one should abandon wrong speech, violent speech, changing speech, harsh speech, divisive speech, meaningless speech, and the six faults of speech. It is also said that the roughness and posture of the body are also faults of the body. Thus, the faults of the three doors of body, speech, and mind are extensively explained. It is also extensively explained that the four roots of downfall should be abandoned. It is said thus: The practitioner, the wise one, also takes refuge in the three times, confesses sins in the three times, generates the mind of enlightenment in the three times, and makes aspirations in the three times with the knowledge of the ritual of seeing the tantra. Whatever is practiced in the ritual, do as much as you can according to your desire. Always be diligent in giving, be free from stinginess and have compassion, always be patient and have love, and always have diligence. The six recollections are also always meditated with a firm mind. After listening to various dharmas, think about them rationally with faith. Read the secret mantra rituals carefully and also offer mantras and mudras. According to what comes out of the ritual, the wise should draw mandalas. The wise should always gather the four assemblies of monks and so on, whose right view is certain and whose mind of enlightenment is firm. After binding the vows and mudras, show your own secret mantra tantras. The wise should fully expand all the transmissions of secret mantras. Thus it is said. Among them, taking refuge in the three times, confessing sins, generating the mind of enlightenment, and making aspirations, thus, by holding the mind of enlightenment through the door of the four limbs, the root of downfall is cleared.

There is no place for abandoning the mind of enlightenment to arise. Constantly striving for generosity, being free from stinginess, and possessing compassion, having these three branches, there is no place for the root of downfall, stinginess, to arise. Constantly possessing patience and love, having these two branches, there is no place for the root of downfall, harmful intent, to arise. Diligence is the friend of all. Among the six recollections, the three recollections of the Three Jewels are the cause for the arising of the mind of enlightenment and the cause for holding skillful means. The two recollections of generosity and the deities are the antidotes to stinginess and harmful intent through the two doors of cause and effect. The recollection of the movement of breath in and out is the antidote to the unpacified. By meditating on these with a firm mind, they become antidotes to pride and arrogance. Therefore, these six recollections alone can become antidotes to the four roots of downfall. Listening to various holy teachings, contemplating with faith and understanding, reciting detailed rituals, making offerings with mantras and mudras, both internal and external, bestowing empowerments and vows to disciples in the mandala without omitting the rituals, gathering the fourfold assembly, including monks who are firm in the mind of enlightenment, explaining the tantras of secret mantras to disciples with mudras of vows, and extensively propagating the scriptures of secret mantras. Thus, for those who uphold the holy Dharma with eight branches, there is no place for the root of downfall, abandoning the holy Dharma, to arise. In some texts, it is also said that the root of the training is four, plus abandoning meat and alcohol, making it five. Among them, abandoning meat is to hold great compassion, and if there is great compassion, then harmful intent and stinginess can also be prevented. Therefore, all the vows spoken of in the Great Vehicle are branches for holding the mind of enlightenment. In the Sutra Requested by Noble Power Store, as mentioned above, it is also said to abandon stinginess, pride, and harmful intent, and holding the mind of enlightenment is also said to have seven branches, saying: The root of mantra is first morality, then diligence and patience.
