And, as said about "purity" and so on, among all that should be learned, whatever is not said to be unlearnable, practitioners should not abandon. Therefore, the details should be consulted in the detailed rituals of the Vinaya and asceticism, etc. For the sake of easy practice, a brief summary is as follows: Those who wish to please their own deity through either of the two methods of recitation and meditation, and to attain liberation and the state of omniscient wisdom through great accomplishment, and who strive for this, should avoid all actions that displease the deity, should protect all actions that invite obstacles, and should prevent the arising of all afflictions and non-virtuous dharmas. Whatever action is praised in any situation, one should diligently do that. Actions that are universally praised and most excellent should not be interrupted, nor should they be replaced by other actions. To this, a summary is as follows: Pure, peaceful, and patient, restrained and with mind towards liberation, the reciter will attain accomplishment. And, pure and clothing also pure, accompanied by pure friends, residing in a pure place, with reverence for Vajradhara, secretly practice the conduct of wisdom. Among these, purity means: the three doors of body, speech, and mind are not defiled by sins and non-virtuous dharmas, maintaining purity; food, clothing, friends, and dwellings are not defiled by faults such as dirt, maintaining purity. Among these, the sins and non-virtuous dharmas of the three doors of body, speech, and mind are: all that should not be done, encompassed by the ten non-virtuous paths of action. Pure food means: avoiding non-vessels, non-occasions, non-times, non-reasons, etc., which is called pure food. Among these, non-vessels means: eating with hands, eating in earthenware vessels, eating on the back of leaves, and so on. Non-occasions means: food that causes displeasure to the deity, the arising of obstacles, and the increase of afflictions and non-virtuous dharmas. Among these, causing displeasure to the deity means: as a reciter who practices deity yoga with oneself as the deity, in order to please the deity, one should not eat foods that are despised and lowly in the world. Food that causes the arising of obstacles is:

Having become the natural food for small insects and the like, sesame seeds, milk porridge, radishes, mung bean flour, turnips, and so on, among the foods for torma, whatever is praised should not be eaten. Foods that increase afflictions and sins are: like this, whatever is eaten will give rise to craving, and similarly, whatever causes one to lose memory and become lazy, whose form cannot be destroyed, and which cannot be used for offerings. Moreover, some foods also possess multiple faults. Furthermore, one should not eat out of respect, one should not eat out of harm, one should not eat out of inferiority, and one should not eat out of increasing afflictions. Among these, not eating out of respect is: what is offered to the gods, and what has the form of a god. Not eating out of harm is: when obstacles arise and what is doubtful. Not eating out of inferiority is: what is slandered and degraded. Increasing afflictions is: resembling the body of an animal, increasing the seed of harmful thoughts and weakening the seed of compassion, and meat and fish and the like, which arise from the limbs of animals, are also shown to be the same. Furthermore, meat, fish, alcohol, garlic, and also some kinds of roots will give rise to craving, increase the seed of miserliness and weaken the seed of protection, and also alcohol and the like, which give rise to craving, will also, depending on the strength of their potency, make the body lazy and diminish memory, thereby abandoning vows and indulging in recklessness; such things are foods that increase afflictions. Therefore, some foods also possess all the faults of offending the gods, causing obstacles to arise, increasing afflictions, and incurring sins, and should be combined according to circumstances. Among those things that should not be eaten, among foods, drinks, and beverages, which should be prohibited will be understood from the detailed explanation of the ritual below. Eating at the wrong time is: monks and laypeople, when engaging in the ascetic practice of recitation, are not allowed to eat before noon. Improper intention is: just as a doctor gives food that is beneficial for a wound, one should eat with the intention of merely eliminating the disease of hunger, and not eat out of craving for taste. Just as
