Since there is no interruption between the barley sprouts, they are connected, so they are also imperishable. Furthermore, the Mahayana practitioner responded to the opponent by saying: Then, what you say is without any interruption, is it interrupted by three moments or not interrupted? He said: It is not interrupted by three moments. He said: Then your other one is not interrupted by three moments, so three moments cannot arise either. These three moments are: the moment of mind, the moment of completion of action, and the moment of the end of time. Among them, the moment of mind: In one drop of water, the Shravakas count one hundred and sixty moments, and the Bodhisattvas know it to be three hundred and ten moments, so it is interrupted by many moments. The moment of completion of action: the barley seed is the completion of the action of the cause's dharma, and the barley sprout is the completion of the action of the effect's dharma. Since the cause and effect actions are completed separately, they are also interrupted by the moment of completion of action. The moment of the end of time also interrupts: the time of the barley seed has passed, the barley sprout has become the present time, and its fruit has become the future time, so it is also interrupted by the moment of the end of time. In another way, the two moments of completion of action and the end of time can also be measured by the mind: the previous previous mind ceases, and the later later mind arises. The previous cessation is the cause, and relying on the previous cessation, the later arising is the effect. Therefore, these two cause and effect are completed separately, so they are also interrupted by the moment of completion of action. The moment of the end of time can be measured from three times: If the mind is measured by the three times, the previous time has passed and is empty, the present does not stay and is empty, and the later time is future and empty. In this way, the mind is interrupted by the three times, so it is also interrupted. Therefore, it can be determined that it is not born from other things. If it is said to be produced, then even if it would be produced by these four reasons, but measured by these four great reasons, it can be determined that all internal and external dharmas are unborn, and there is no production in the ultimate truth. When explaining the definition of the four phrases of Madhyamaka, the so-called Madhyamaka is to cut off the eternal and annihilationist views of the heretics.

Refuting all extremes of asserting existence and non-existence, the Dharma that is non-dual with samsara and nirvana, the path of non-abiding nirvana, which reveals the meaning of the Great Vehicle, is called Madhyamaka. Peg: For the wisdom of the Tirthikas' evil views, which is like a knot, with the reason of non-origination like a wooden peg, it refutes and introduces the Madhyamaka path, hence it is called Peg. Separated from one and many: It is also said in the scriptures: "Those things spoken of by self and others, in their own nature are one, because they are separated from the nature of many, they are without self-nature like an image." Therefore, the five sense consciousnesses are not established in their own nature, and the mind consciousness is not established through transmission. Mental factors do not have a leader, and retinues cannot exist, so they are not established. If conditioned phenomena are not established, then unconditioned phenomena are also not established by analogy. Regarding this, the mnemonic for the tenets of the five sense consciousnesses is: Consciousness is not established in its own nature. For example, when the eye consciousness alone observes five colors, such as the pattern of silk or the pattern of a mandala, it becomes five consciousnesses. Therefore, one is not established. The debater refutes: When observing five colors as the object, one is not established, but when observing extremely small dust as the object, one is established. The answer is: "When connected with different directions, pervasive things are not the self-nature of one." It means, is your extremely small dust composed of six directional parts, or not? If you say it is composed of six directional parts, then it contradicts the valid cognition of the world; if you say it is not composed, then you contradict your own accepted tenet. However, extremely small dust is not established because it has six directional parts. In this way, the many accumulated by one are also not established, therefore it is without self-nature. Mind consciousness is not established through transmission, meaning that the arising of consciousness arises from the four conditions. If the five sense consciousnesses are not established, then the mind consciousness does not have an immediate condition, so it cannot arise, therefore it does not arise. Mental factors do not have a leader, and retinues cannot exist, so they are not established, meaning that, like this, the mind consciousness is not established, and it does not rely on the main
