Whose wheel is the wheel of the earth? Also, the fifty-one mental factors that arise from the mind, a wheel without a leader is impossible, so it is not established. Thus, if conditioned dharmas are not established, then unconditioned dharmas are also shown not to be established by analogy. The four unconditioned dharmas are: space, suchness, analytical cessation, and non-analytical cessation. The opponent says: The four unconditioned dharmas are not produced by causes, not accomplished by conditions, and are not the cause of anything. This is truly existent. To this, the answer is: Your four unconditioned dharmas, not produced by causes, not accomplished by conditions, not the cause of anything, nor the condition of anything, although that is true. However, if it is established in its own essence, then is it or is it not an object of a single consciousness? If it is not an object of a single consciousness, then how can its existence be proven? If it is an object of a single consciousness, then what consciousness is it an object of? If it is said to be an object of mental consciousness, the answer is: Because it is connected with sequential consciousness, pervasive things are not of a permanent nature. Sequential means gradually cutting off in later stages, referring to cutting off different objects. Pervasive things are not of a permanent nature, which means that the moment of mental consciousness is not established in its own essence. That is to say, just as the subject is, so is the object. Just as the consciousness of the subject is momentary, the object, which is the four unconditioned dharmas, also becomes the nature of three moments: the previous moment has ceased, the present moment does not remain, and the future moment has not yet arisen. If the accumulated many are not established, then one's own essence can also be counted. If the accumulated many are not established, whose many are the many? The many are not established in their own essence. With this reason, one can refute the Hearers who believe in the existence of an independent object. The prevention of the four extremes of arising is stated in the scriptures: One does not produce one thing, one does not produce many things, many do not produce one thing, many do not produce many things. This means that one cause does not produce one effect, one cause does not produce many effects, and many causes do not produce one effect.

There is no production, and many causes do not produce many effects. Among them, one cause does not produce one effect: if the cause, the sense faculty, produces the effect, which is one consciousness, and if it cannot produce a subsequent consciousness of the same kind, then the subsequent consciousness will be interrupted, leading to the faults of deafness and dumbness. Therefore, it is not permissible in the ultimate truth, nor is it permissible in the nature of conventional illusion. One cause does not produce many effects: if the cause, the sense faculty, produces the effect, which is one consciousness and a subsequent consciousness of the same kind, if it is thought so, it is permissible in the conventional truth. But if measured by reason, in the ultimate truth, if the cause is regarded as few, then the effect appears to be many; if the dharma of the cause is regarded as important, then the two different effects will become the same without difference. If the effect is regarded as important, then the dharma of the cause, even if it is the only one without difference, will become two different ones. In this way, the effect cannot follow the cause, the cause and effect are reversed, and there is no self-nature. Many causes do not produce one effect: if the cause, the object and the sense faculty, produce the effect, which is the only consciousness, if it is thought so, it is permissible in the conventional truth. But if measured by reason, it is not permissible in the ultimate truth. If the cause is regarded as many, then the effect appears to be few. If the cause is regarded as important, then the only effect without difference will become two different ones. If the effect is regarded as important, then the two different causes will become the same without difference. Because of this reason, the effect cannot follow the cause, the cause and effect are reversed, and there is no self-nature. Many causes do not produce many effects: the cause, the object, the sense faculty, and the immediately preceding condition, these three produce the effect, which is the one with the aspect of the object, the one capable of holding the aspect, and the three with the nature of consciousness. If it is thought so, it is permissible in the conventional truth. But if measured by reason, it is not permissible in the ultimate truth. Because, although it is considered as three in the stage of the cause, in the three dharmas of the effect, there is only the nature of consciousness, and nothing else. If the cause is regarded as many, then the effect appears to be few. If the cause is regarded as important, then the only effect without difference will become three different ones. Effect
