inconsistent. If one argues only within a small scope, then all the distinctions of convention can be established as they are commonly known. If one does not wish to establish truly, even if one argues to those who have similar perceptions, the distinctions will not be established, because all conventions will become equal. If one argues on a grand scale to those who have dissimilar perceptions, even if one ends up wanting to establish something truly, one appearance will negate another, and no distinctions will be established, and everything will become equal. Therefore, according to the principles of Madhyamaka and the Unsurpassed Secret, there is nothing to be truly established for all phenomena, because they are spoken for the sake of limitless beings to be trained. Therefore, all the distinctions of worldly fame are merely the extent of their respective appearances, and their characteristics become equal. For example, the form of a pot in a dream appears to be able to perform the function of holding water, while the form of a reflection of a pot appears unable to perform the function of holding water. However, apart from the appearance in the dream, in its own essence, there is no different characteristic of being able to perform the function and not being able to perform the function. Therefore, all phenomena are like illusions, like mirages, like dreams, like reflections, like emanations. What is the nature of illusion? For example, a magician makes various forms out of stones, pieces of wood, and gravel, and then, by reciting mantras and skillfully applying them to a mirror, various forms appear, such as men, women, horses, and elephants. When it first appears, it does not come from anywhere. At the moment of appearance, since it is an illusion, there is no characteristic whatsoever. The illusion is gathered up, ceases, and becomes invisible, and at that time it does not go anywhere either. Anyone can say this: because of the cause of the illusion being gathered up, it has not become an object of the senses and is merely invisible. The continuum of that moment is neither interrupted nor reversed. There is also no such distinction, because both appearance and non-appearance are without characteristics, and therefore have the same characteristic. As long as

As long as the conditions are close and present, appearances can be perceived. The nature of mere appearance is complete. Because there is nothing else to be proven in this, it is called illusion, illusion. So, what is the nature of a mirage? In a certain place, saline-alkali soil is close by, the sun is scorched by heat, hail falls in a certain direction, and the viewer is at a distance. Due to these conditions, it appears as if there is a river full of water. When it first appears, it does not come from anywhere. At the moment of appearance, because there is no great element as a basis, there is no nature whatsoever. When the sun sets, it disappears and becomes invisible, and at that time it does not go anywhere. No one would say that because the sun has set, it is no longer an object of the senses, but merely disappears. Its momentary continuity is neither cut off nor reversed. Such an establishment does not exist. Like this, appearance and non-appearance are inseparable, without nature, and of the same nature. However, as long as the conditions are close and present, appearances can be perceived. The nature of mere appearance is complete. Because there is nothing else to be proven in this, it is called a mirage, a mirage. So, what is the nature of a dream? When a person is obscured by sleep and dreams, places of enjoyment such as gardens and amusement parks can be perceived and appear, and places of suffering such as prisons and dark rooms can also be perceived and appear. When it first appears, it does not come from anywhere. At the moment of appearance, because it is a dream, there is no nature whatsoever. After waking up, it disappears and becomes invisible, and at that time it does not go anywhere. No one would say that because of waking up, it is no longer an object of the senses, but merely disappears. Its momentary continuity is neither cut off nor reversed. Such an establishment does not exist. Appearance and non-appearance are inseparable, without nature, and of the same nature. However, as long as the conditions are close and present, appearances can be perceived. The nature of mere appearance is complete.
