Now it also turns into trees, just like turning into a state of being helpless and without any remainder. So, who is establishing those philosophical views that harm themselves? This is because those who hold onto philosophical views see their own minds as immaculate and establish them without fault. However, those with deep and broad minds see it as if the water is turbid, and they see that they harm themselves, which is just a statement. For example, in the past, there was someone called Brahma Earth Flower who said to someone called Brahma Immortal: Alas, Brahma, your mind is very pure! As I, who am wise, see it, every word is like turbidity. Just like this, Brahma Immortal's mind sees itself as very pure, so the words he speaks, as Brahma Earth Flower sees it, every word is like turbidity, seeing that he harms himself. That is, like this, from the perspective of the Hearers, afflictions are all considered to be things to be abandoned, having various characteristics. Because of this reason, various distinctions are made. Just because of this, the certainty of numbers is damaged, and like turbidity, the Dharma that one desires is damaged. From the perspective of the Yogacara school, wanting the characteristics of things to be abandoned, distinctions of characteristics are made, and like turbidity, one harms oneself. From the perspective of the Madhyamaka school, distinctions of correct and incorrect differences are made, and just because of this, like turbidity, this is merely stating that one harms oneself. Because it contradicts the view of the Unsurpassed Secret, it is not said that there is harm. Even if this has become harm, because each clings to their own established philosophical view as a refuge, it will not even become seeing harm. Stating the phenomenon that each of their own philosophical views destroys themselves is because it becomes a state of being helpless and without any remainder, so these faults are stated. Those who want to enter the view of the Great Vehicle should know that there are no afflictions that should be abandoned, and the stage where all phenomena begin to appear equally like illusions. This is the first. Here, the debate is that the sutras say that all phenomena are like illusions, which is a collection.

All that is made is impermanent, and with regard to all dharmas, the name 'like an illusion' is also applied through the gate of selflessness of persons. Considering that dharmas and persons are selfless, and that the absence of inherent existence of the three natures also has three aspects, therefore it is said that all dharmas are without inherent existence. Because they arise from other causes and conditions, the name 'like an illusion' is applied. Since dharmas do not have ultimate inherent existence, even though they are merely accepted as truly existent in true conventionality, they are only said to be like an illusion, but illusions and aggregates are not entirely the same. Why? Illusions appear only for a moment, while the aggregates of beings appear to be long-lasting and stable. Illusions are not completely grasped by mind and mental factors, because they do not have the aspect of feeling and perception. But the aggregates of beings are completely grasped by mind and mental factors, and have the aspect of feeling and perception. Therefore, these two cannot be entirely equated. It should be stated that such differences also appear in illusions and emanations. For example, in emanations, some emanations manifested by the Tathagatas or Bodhisattvas who have attained power, for the benefit of beings, can accomplish the deeds of the Buddha for a kalpa or more. Some accomplish the deeds of the Buddha for only a year, a month, a day, a morning, or an hour. Among these emanations, some appear to be completely grasped by wisdom and accomplish deeds that are not grasped. Some appear to be grasped and accomplish deeds that are grasped. Some appear to be not grasped and accomplish deeds that are not grasped. Some appear to be not grasped but accomplish deeds that are grasped. However, the nature of emanations is not different, it is the same. For example, in images, if a chaste maiden looks into a mirror that is praised for having accomplished the mantra of Prasena (藏文:པྲ་སེ་ན།梵文天城体:प्रसेन,梵文罗马拟音:prasena,汉语字面意思:普拉赛那), she can see the image of a hidden thief, but ordinary people cannot. But the nature of the image is not different. It is the same in dreams.
