It is like trying to modify an illusion without recognizing it. It is said that as long as the cause of delusion and misperception is not exhausted, the arising of consciousness that appears meaningful even though it is meaningless, like an illusion, will not cease. If one knows its nature, it cannot be modified. Trying to modify it as if it cannot be modified is like wanting to modify an illusion. Therefore, this shows that appearances and misperceptions cannot be modified or negated. Furthermore, it also shows that one should not follow appearances and misperceptions. Non-thinking, signless mind itself, does not abide even in the signless. If it does not abide even in the signless, what need is there to mention abiding in the signed? It is said that because the mind of seeking things does not arise, it is non-conceptual. Because it is free from clinging to and grasping at signs, it is called the signless mind. If such a mind does not settle and rely even on the signless, what need is there to say that it does not settle and rely on the signed? In the Precious Lamp of Views, it is also said, "The nature of illusion, unblocked manifestation, signless one taste, realized in the realm of ultimate truth." The way it is said is also like that. This meaning of abiding without modification is also spoken of in the Lamp of Unmodified Methods for Body and Mind: "Just like the signless sky, without object and without non-object, effort and without effort. Likewise, the mind itself is also like the sky, by its very nature, it is like that. The body and so on are also like that, because there is no root, in any way, there is no abiding, if there is no abiding, it becomes non-contradictory." It is said that, for example, the sky, because it has no own sign, there is no effort of focusing on objects or not focusing on objects. Similarly, the mind also, because it is empty of self-nature, there is no place for effort. All the actions of body and speech are also like that. This is the meaning to be expressed. Now, I will briefly explain the obstacles to meditation. In general, the thirty faults and obscurations mentioned above are also obstacles to view and practice. Therefore, here, I will briefly explain the obstacles that are somewhat related to this, that is, subtle clinging, and it is difficult to distinguish whether it is an obstacle or not. Below, I will briefly explain the (content) that mainly elucidates the obstacles to meditation, the Bodhicitta pervades all objects.
