At the time of realization, whatever aspects of the environment appear, whatever thoughts arise in the mind, one should not, like the Lesser Vehicle, regard appearances and thoughts as faults and try to suppress them. Therefore, it is called "unobstructed self-arising." One should not follow after signs like ordinary sentient beings, so it is called "unfollowed self-pacification." Therefore, the nature of bodhichitta is that it is not altered by other causes or efforts, nor is it created by anyone, but is naturally and clearly abiding. This meaning is also taught in the practice of bodhichitta: 'Thus, when the limits of things are examined, their nature, like illusion, is also nonexistent. The nonexistence that depends on existence is also nonexistent, and the nonexistence of nonexistence is also nonexistent. Since all limits are nonexistent, the center is also nonexistent, and one does not abide in the center. One does not intentionally abandon arising or non-arising, one does not cling to a support for the mind, and one does not make anything manifest.' The word "thus" refers to the fact that all defiled and purified dharmas have been shown to be unestablished. The terms "ultimate truth" and "conventional truth" are merely guiding names. In the definitive sense, it has been explained that neither of the two truths can be established. Thus, if one examines the limits of things with subtle wisdom, even the conventional nature, like illusion, is unobtainable. How, then, could it be established as truly existent? Therefore, if the meaning of all terms of existence is unestablished, then the nonexistence that depends on it is also unestablished. Furthermore, even if one were to establish the pacification of elaboration, which is the meaning expressed by the words "no self-nature" and "no arising," it would be impossible. Therefore, it is said that the nonexistence of nonexistence is also nonexistent. Thus, if there is no limit, then the center is also unestablished, and abiding in the center is also unestablished. Having realized this through view, the method of placing the mind in accordance with it is taught: 'One does not intentionally abandon arising or non-arising, one does not cling to a support for the mind, and one does not make anything manifest.' That is, having realized that disharmony and antidote are undifferentiated, one does not intentionally abandon the arising of signs and thoughts, one does not cling to a support for the mind when they do not arise, and one does not make manifest the meaning to be obtained. The reason for abiding free from acceptance and rejection is stated: 'It is not Mañjuśrī, nor is it a particle of dust; even a slight movement is its very nature.' That is, even if one perceives a slight movement of wrong thought that is not the equality of dharmatā, that very thing is dharmatā.

Therefore, one does not strive to abandon signs and concepts. Because the nature of reality is without inherent existence, one does not abide therein. It is said that one does not establish the mind's support on insufficient conceptualization. Also, it cannot be made manifest, because one cannot find a place for meditation, so one cannot find it through meditation. It is said that although conventionally it is said that the mind meditates on the nature of reality, since the mind itself is not established as a real entity, it is called the nature of reality. With what does one meditate on what, and what result can be obtained? Therefore, it cannot be made manifest. Now, how should one deal with the fact that the realm of deluded appearances manifestly appears due to the power of previous habitual tendencies, and that various conceptualizations of actions arise? In this regard, if one knows the nature of appearances, it is shown that there is no fault to be eliminated because there is no inherent existence of fault. Knowing the realm of the mind, it is the nature of all those phenomena. It is said that when one knows the realm of the mind without perversion, whatever appears is not separate from the nature of reality, so it cannot be taken as a fault. If there is no fault in appearance, then by what is sentient beings deceived and wander in samsara? Sentient beings are attached to appearances as real entities and cling to the characteristics of signs, and thus wander in samsara. Realizing that appearances are without inherent existence, in order to show that one does not follow appearances with such characteristics, it is said, 'In that which is free from characteristics, there is no high or low, one should meditate on this supreme path.' It is said that because one realizes that appearances are without inherent existence, one does not follow appearances. Similarly, whatever conceptualizations of the mind arise, because there is no real entity of fault, one does not reject them, but they are self-arisen. Because one's own essence is not established, one does not follow them, but they are left to be self-pacified. The meaning is explained thus: 'Actions are unborn, all phenomena are without arising, and all phenomena are utterly extinguished. When there is no entity, all also know the realm of phenomena, is the Arhat Subhuti.' It is said that since all phenomena that are manifestly active are by nature unborn, no phenomenon arises, and they are by nature extinguished. Thus, when one realizes that no entity exists, and one knows all appearances and conceptualizations as the realm of phenomena, it is like the wisdom of the Arhat Subhuti. So it is. Here an example is given: The sky does not...
