Not only that, but even when appearing as blue and moving, the blue and moving themselves do not exist; they abide in the nature of space. What is the nature of space like? Sentient beings conceive that there is an empty entity that is the opposite of form, and merely make it the object of the term "space, space." Apart from that, space has no essence whatsoever. Similarly, all phenomena, without moving from the state of being naturally pure, appear from the Buddha's body and wisdom down to the state and suffering of sentient beings. At the very time of such appearance, not only are the various things, like water, universally conceived as empty, but also the self-knowing of mind and the self-knowing of wisdom, which are like blue and moving, do not exist in that way; they abide in the nature of the purity of reality. That which is called the purity of reality is also like space; it is merely established in the realm of the mind's speech and wisdom as selflessness, the pacification of elaboration. Apart from that, there is no essence whatsoever. Such realization is called realizing illusion and dreamlikeness. One who realizes in this way does not fear that illusions will cause harm, nor does one hope that they will bring benefit, just as one possesses a mind free from hope and fear. One does not fear that contaminated dharmas will cause harm, nor does one hope that purified dharmas will bring benefit. Such a person is said to be possessed by the vessel of great awareness. Because of this power, one does not generate any effort, but abides in an unfabricated state, which is called abiding in the state of great equanimity. In short, realizing all phenomena as illusion and dreamlike is realizing the meaning of Dzogchen, which is called view. Abiding without separation from the mind of realization is called being possessed by the vessel of great awareness. Because of this power, not deliberately generating the effort of fabrication is called abiding in the state of great equanimity, which is also called meditation. These three words completely encompass the view and meditation of Dzogchen. Now, if these meanings are explained from the source of scriptural authority, then some who do not believe will also develop faith, and some who do not understand will also understand. Therefore,

It is shown by the words of the collection of Zhung. There is no way to modify it with effort except to hold it with awareness, because both conceptual thought and non-conceptual thought are equal in nature. There is no need to modify with effort, as it says in "The Lamp of Correct View": "The happiness and suffering of dreams, when awakened, are equal in nature. Both conceptual thought and non-conceptual thought, when known by awareness, are completely equal in nature. Thus, all aspects of the three times, knowing that they do not go beyond their own nature, if you do not follow the children of false imputation, then the nature itself does not need to be modified at all." As it is said, it is only to be held with great awareness and not to follow false imputation, there is no meaning of modification by effort. Because all phenomena are gathered in the mind, there is no other phenomenon other than the mind, and the very non-arising of the mind's own nature is called the nature of phenomena, then who will meditate on what now? It is also said: "Just as the sky has no characteristics, that sky does not become something to be meditated on, how can the mind, which is unborn in its own nature, meditate on that unborn?" As it is said. Then, to what extent is the term "meditation" applied? The meaning of the inseparability of the dissimilar and the antidote, when one knows this and abandons all efforts, and abides in great equanimity without fabrication, it is only nominally called meditation. As it is said, when one knows that the nature of the dissimilar to be abandoned and the antidote to be relied upon are inseparable, all efforts of abandoning and taking are naturally pacified, and only abiding in the state of great equanimity is nominally called meditation. Then, due to the power of past habitual tendencies, how should one deal with the manifest appearance of the illusion of objects and the arising of various feelings of mental thoughts? Because both faults and virtues are unborn, no matter what signs of conceptual thought arise, do not block, self-arise, do not follow, self-pacify, do not modify, do not fabricate, the nature is clear. As it is said, the conceptual thought of illusion regarded as a fault, and the wisdom free from the appearance of conceptual thought regarded as a virtue, are inseparable in nature.
