Because it is not observed, it does not appear, which is the attainment of the unconditioned through the practice of the path. Even if not observed, there is nothing that appears, because there is nothing at all. The hair seen by someone with cataracts is also an appearance observed by conceptual thought. The rabbit's horn is also not visible because it is not observed by conceptual thought, because its continuum has not accumulated the karma to grow horns. Regarding this, the terms 'observation' and 'realization' are used by conceptual thought as follows: Like this, what is seen by the intellect with conceptual thought that is inverted is called observation. What is seen by the inverted intellect is called realization. Here, an objection is raised: These two words are common, because the word 'realization' is also used for inverted seeing, such as 'unrealized' and 'inverted realization.' The word 'observation' is also used for non-inverted seeing, such as 'if one observes well with discriminating wisdom' or 'the cessation of individual observation.' The answer is that it is not like that. Although the words expressing 'realization' and 'observation' are similar, there are two situations in which they apply to the action of the object and the action of the agent. Among them, when expressing the action of the object, the word 'realization' is not used for inverted seeing. The word 'observation' is not used for non-inverted seeing. When expressing the action of the agent, the word 'realization' is also used for inverted seeing, and the word 'observation' is also used for non-inverted seeing. For example, the word called 'Kalapita' indicates observation. For non-inverted, such as 'Avabodha' or 'Pratisankhya,' it indicates the action of the agent. Therefore, like this, observing universally with the intellect of inverted conceptual thought becomes the place of superimposition and defamation. Among them, the place of superimposition is like the five bases of the view of permanence mentioned above. The place of defamation is to defame the basis, such as saying, 'There is no cause, there is no result, there is no agent, there are no special qualities.' Regarding this, the use of the term 'realization' for what is seen by the intellect with conceptual thought in a non-inverted way is as follows: Like this, from the place of superimposition and defamation, the non-inverted realization of the place of superimposition has already been explained above. Defamation

In that place. There is a cause, the seed is the cause of the sprout. There is a result, the sprout is the result of the seed. There is an agent, the person is the agent of planting the seed. There are special qualities, the Three Jewels are superior and more excellent than all the worlds, like this. Similarly, all that is established as universally examined and characterized is of two kinds: that which is established as examined due to the mind of discrimination seeing it as inverted, and that which is understood and established as characterized due to the mind of discrimination seeing it as not inverted. That which is understood and established by someone with a non-inverted mind is proven by others to be examined by an inverted mind. Therefore, just as ultimately the characteristic of a thing cannot be found, so too a non-inverted mind cannot be found. Since that cannot be found, the characteristic of a thing cannot be found either. Due to the power of specific discriminations, just as this is established, so too is the characteristic of all the subtle and coarse arising of untrue universal discriminations. Therefore, even the very establishment of knowledge as the nature of awareness is merely an appearance of examination; it is not established as the nature of perfect establishment. For example, saying that a person was killed by an enemy and saying that he was killed by a weapon have the same meaning; being killed by a weapon is the same as being killed by an enemy. Similarly, saying that all consciousnesses arise from their own seeds and saying that they are appearances of the examination of discrimination have the same meaning. Saying that they arise from their own seeds means that there is no attainment of the self-nature of knowledge that is not an appearance of examination. Thus, the two truths become inseparable. By realizing the inseparability of the two truths, one can enter the non-duality of Dharma. Therefore, one obtains the name of abiding in the view of the Great Perfection. That refers only to being free from all clinging to views. For example, the Hearers realize the absence of a person, the Solitary Buddhas realize that appearances, beginning with the form aggregate, lack a grasped object, the Yogacharas realize that both grasper and grasped do not exist, and the Madhyamikas realize that ultimate truth does not exist.
