Therefore, this also relies on direct perception and non-perception. Then, there are also those who practice its Vedas, the non-Buddhist monks, having obtained meditative concentration and supernormal powers, some of whom examined the limits of the self and the world, did not see the death of the Great Brahma, but saw other deaths, and also did not see the imprints of sentient beings' actions, therefore the view arose of seeing the Great Brahma as a permanent cause, this also relies on direct perception and non-perception. Furthermore, some people in the realm of Others' Wielding Power, see the king of the gods wielding power, without having to transform himself for all the enjoyments of desire, but being able to wield power over all that others transform, and also not seeing the death of the Wielding Power god, therefore from that basis the view arises that the Wielding Power god is permanent, that also relies on direct perception and non-perception. Also, some people obtain the divine eye called knowledge of death and transference and birth, and when he looks at those who die and transfer, he sees a spontaneously born sentient being arising from his body, taking birth in another place, from this the view arises that the person is permanent and changing, therefore these views are also, established by the direct perception of yoga, and arising dependently from its non-perception. Furthermore, some people, relying on sense perception and non-perception, also give rise to views such as seeing beings as two classes, etc., therefore, all the different ways of holding onto the terms of existence and non-existence, and the objects of cause and effect, are also solely dependent on direct perception and non-perception. Therefore, although it is true that what is established by direct perception cannot be denied as merely appearing as it is, it is also not possible to prove that its nature is true in that way merely by appearance. Although it is true that what is known by non-perception cannot be falsely imputed in our own case, it is also not possible to negate the nature of things merely by that. Those who wish to know in detail where these views rely on and how they rely on them should consult the Brahma Net Sutra and so on. Thus, after explaining the views of the world through the two doors of not understanding and misunderstanding, now explaining partial understanding and so on.

In order to show the path of liberation from samsara, there are also two kinds of paths that transcend the world: the Characteristic Vehicle and the Vajra Vehicle. It is said. Among them, 'characteristic' refers to the general and specific characteristics of all phenomena. Among them, a characteristic is: 'This is what is to be represented, therefore it is a characteristic,' or 'This represents, therefore it is a characteristic,' like the hardness of earth and the wetness of water. Its entity is the characteristic, like hardness and wetness. The texts that mainly explain these characteristics are called the Characteristic Vehicle. For example, these are general characteristics, these are specific characteristics, these are the characteristics of complete defilement, these are the characteristics of complete purification, and so on. Because it explains in this way, it is called that. The Vajra Vehicle does not mainly explain those characteristics in that way, but explains the body, speech, and mind as the indivisible nature of the three vajras, so it is called that. Among them, there are also three types of Characteristic Vehicle: the Hearer Vehicle, the Solitary Realizer Vehicle, and the Bodhisattva Vehicle. It is said that although they are the same in mainly explaining characteristics, due to the differences in capacity, inclination, and ability, regarding those characteristics, in all of everything, due to the differences in manifest attachment and non-attachment, they are divided into two vehicles, the Great Vehicle and the Small Vehicle. For those who are attached, they are further divided into two types due to the difference between being liberated from a part and not being liberated. Therefore, they are divided into three vehicles and explained. Among them, 'Hearer' refers to the noble individuals included in the four pairs and eight types of persons. Why is it called that? The word śrāvaṇa means 'to listen.' Unlike Solitary Realizers, Hearers do not receive teachings from a spiritual friend, but even when attaining the result, they receive teachings and listen from a spiritual friend. They attain the result through conditions, so it is called that. Another explanation is that the word śrāvaṇa means 'to hear and proclaim.' Unlike Solitary Realizers, they do not proclaim the result they have heard to others, but proclaim the result they have heard to others.
