Therefore, it will become weak. These are the ways of attending to the mind by looking at and speaking of the meaning of name and merit. What is the nature of merit itself? There are two forms: the form of Pāramitā and the form of Mantra. Among them, in the form of Pāramitā, there are merits that are common to worldly people, Śrāvakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Bodhisattvas, and merits that are not common to the unique merits of the Tathāgata. Among them, the common merits are the ten paths of virtuous actions, the dhyānas and immeasurables, and the fruits of higher realms included in the path of samāpatti. In addition, there are the Four Noble Truths, the Eight Consciousnesses, the Liberations, and other fruits of the path of a renunciate. Similarly, there are directions and perfections, powers and superknowledges, the bhūmis and powers of Bodhisattvas, the fearlessness of Bodhisattvas, the dhāraṇīs and samādhis of Bodhisattvas, and so on. The uncommon merits are the ten powers of the Tathāgata, the eighteen unshared qualities, the major and minor marks, the dhāraṇīs and samādhis, the thirty-two great compassions, the three unshared mindfulnesses, the complete abandonment of all connections of karmic imprints, the nature of not forgetting, and the omniscient wisdom, and so on. These are called the ocean of the Tathāgata's merits, because they are as deep and vast as the ocean, and therefore immeasurable and unfathomable. In short, there are four aspects: completely knowing all knowable dharmas without exception, completely abandoning all abandonable dharmas without exception, constantly transforming all transformable dharmas without exception, and constantly attaining all attainable dharmas without exception. In this way, the ocean of the Tathāgata's merits is summarized into four aspects. In the form of mantra, three great waves of the Tathāgata's merits are taught. What are the three? They are the all-pervading merits and

Qualities that surpass calculation and, the most supreme qualities. Among them, what is the all-pervading quality? For example, the qualities of the Tathagata are: the infinity of the expanse of space, the pure and impure realms that reach the limit of the realm of Dharma, and the individuals residing therein, those who are learning and those who are not, and the dharmas included by neither. For example, from the aggregates, elements, sense bases, and dependent origination, to the supreme wisdom of omniscience, and the dharmas between the realm of Dharma and the ultimate reality, there is nothing that is not pervaded. This is the all-pervading quality. As for how it pervades, it should be understood as explained in the context of explaining terms. So, what are the qualities of the Tathagata that surpass calculation? For example, the body quality of the Tathagata, similarly, speech and, mind and, qualities and, the qualities transformed by the power of the activity's dominion, and each root is also divided into five parts of qualities, becoming five bodies, similarly, others are also five five parts, one five-number is like this, similarly twenty-five lineages, and the essence of these and, mudras and, secret mantras and, mantra-vidyas are divided by lineages, becoming hundreds of lineages, these are also similarly divided, lineages become countless and cannot be spoken of, countless, so it is said that lineages are like the ocean. For example, in other sutras it is said, lineages are boundless and infinite, all contained in the great lineages. Just like it is said here, the Buddha has no beginning and no end, the first Buddha has no cause. It is said like this. Five lineages, six lineages, and boundless lineages are also said like this. In this very sutra it is said, all the great lineages of secret mantras and, the lineages of the holders of secret mantra-vidyas, observe the three lineages, the lineages of the mundane and supramundane, the great lineages that illuminate the world and, the supreme lineage of the great mudra and, after observing the great lineage crown, it is said that they know. The vajra lineage alone is also boundless. In this very sutra it is said, when stating the qualities of the petitioner Vajradhara, wrathful wrinkles gradually possess etc., holding the vajra is boundless. It is said like this, Vajra Bhairava terrifies
