Explanation of the Three Commentaries on the "Ture Names of Manjushri" Explanation of the Three Commentaries on the "True Names of Manjushri" ༄༅། །Here are the explanations of the three commentaries on the "True Names of Manjushri." In the "Sacred True Names of Manjushri," what is meant by "Sacred Manjushri"? What are his names? And how are his names to be truly proclaimed? To this, "Sacred Manjushri" is non-dual wisdom, the essence of the wisdom of all Buddhas of the three times, the nature of the mind of enlightenment, and inseparable from the Dharma-nature of all phenomena. By virtue of this, he appears as the visible form body, possessing the perfect enjoyment body and the emanation body, appearing as the basis of wisdom. In the forms of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, he appears in various ways, such as the Greater and Lesser Vehicles, and these are also considered "Sacred Manjushri." Here, a question is asked: If the essence of the non-dual wisdom of all Buddhas is Sacred Manjushri, then are the wisdoms realized by each of the Buddhas of the ten directions and three times the same or different in nature? Similarly, are their Dharma-nature and activities the same or different? The answer is: This should be understood as follows. Some believe that the wisdom streams of the Tathagatas are different, and their Dharma-nature and activities are also different, but they are the same through four aspects. What are the four? The Dharma is the same, the body is the same, the speech is the same, and the letters are the same. Others believe that wisdom is different because it is attained from the individual streams of persons, but their Dharma-nature and activities are mixed and not different. Still others believe that distinguishing between self and other streams is a habit of clinging to self, and clinging to self is delusion. What arises from and appears under the influence of this is not true. Even in the state of sentient beings, different streams cannot be established, so how can different streams of wisdom be established for the Buddhas who do not possess the knot of clinging to self? Therefore, the Buddhas do not have streams.

They do not have different kinds, different lineages performing activities, similarly, they do not have different methods performing activities, different fields performing activities, and different times performing activities. Just as in the scriptures of the Great and Small Vehicles, those known as Noble Manjushri, and Avalokiteshvara, or Vajrapani, or Buddha Shakyamuni, or Dipankara, or Maitreya, or Vairochana, or Akshobhya, or Ratnashri, and so on, are known as the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. In their respective disciples, fields, methods, teachings, and times, all that appears as the support of great wisdom is also the power of the non-dual wisdom of all Buddhas realizing the nature of reality, and the power of past aspirations and compassion, for the minds of disciples who possess pure predispositions, they merely appear as different forms. Apart from that, in the realm of the Buddhas, not even the slightest difference can be found. Therefore, praising the qualities of Noble Manjushri here, one should know that this is praising the qualities of all Buddhas of the ten directions and three times. Among them, relying on the way Noble Manjushri's form appears, there are various different names, as follows: From the perspective of the Shravakas, Noble Manjushri is called belonging to the Bodhisattva lineage, not yet having attained the Noble Path, and still being an ordinary person. From the common Mahayana perspective, he is considered the master of the ten Bodhisattva grounds. In Jambudvipa, he is a member of the retinue of the Bhagavan Buddha Shakyamuni, and in Akanishta, he is the close son of the Bhagavan Vairochana. From the perspective of the profound Sutras, he attained Buddhahood in the past, and now abides in the form of a Bodhisattva. From the perspective of the Secret Mantras, some views hold that he is the nature emanated from the Ushnisha of the Tathagata, the lord of the lineage, abiding in the form of a Bodhisattva. Some Yoga perspectives hold that he is Vajratikshna, or Manjushri Vajra, from the sixteen great wisdom deities emanated from the heart of the Bhagavan Vairochana.
