is called "Lord." In some aspects of Mahayoga, he is also called "Manjushri Wisdom Hero," and also called "Bodhisattva Vajra." Similarly, Vajrasattva, Samantabhadra, and Mahasukha, etc., are shown as the chief of all Buddhas, and also as the owner of all mandalas. In the "Manjushri Magical Net," it is said that the Vajra of Manjushri resides in the heart of all Tathagatas, and this is also considered to be the form of the first Buddha and the form of the Wisdom Hero. These are the explanations of the nature of the noble Manjushri. So, what are the names of that noble Manjushri? As long as there are names for the various aspects of phenomena, whether they are defiled dharmas or undefiled dharmas, worldly or transcendental, conditioned or unconditioned, existent or nonexistent, mind or mental appearances, etc., whether they are known from worldly texts, from the Hinayana, from the Mahayana, or even from the great Mahayana, the secret mantra teachings, all those names of phenomena are none other than the names of the noble Manjushri. Therefore, all of them should be understood as names. Here someone asks: The names of undefiled dharmas are suitable as names of the noble Manjushri, because the noble Manjushri himself is the nature of having attained undefiledness, so it is suitable. But how can the names of defiled dharmas become his names? Since the noble Manjushri is the nature of having completely exhausted all defiled dharmas, those names should not be his names. Is that so? Although the noble Manjushri is the nature of undefiled dharmas, there is no contradiction in this statement. Because the noble Manjushri is also the nature of defiled dharmas, and because he pervades them, and because he manifests there, and because he delights in them, and because he knows them, and because he speaks of them, and because he completely purifies them, and because he has mastery over them, and

Because it is the place of arising, and also because it is born from that place. These ten ways should also be known for all the dharmas of samsara and nirvana. Then, how is it the nature or essence of all dharmas? Just as it is said here: The supreme nature of all things, holding the nature of all things, the unborn dharma, showing various things, possessing the essence of all dharmas. Like this is said, and, various consciousnesses with form and meaning, various consciousnesses possessing continuity. Like this is said, and, the pacification of the suffering of the three sufferings. And, the ten aspects are the meaning of the ten meanings. And, meaning accomplished, wishes fulfilled, abandoning all discriminations. As said in the occasions such as knowing, the nature of all things, and the nature of the dharma of non-things, and possessing the essence of all dharmas. As explained, and also, in the occasion of various consciousnesses with form and meaning, the essence of mind and intention and various consciousnesses together with appearance is Manjushri. As explained, similarly in the occasion of the pacification of the suffering of the three sufferings, the three sufferings, when said to be suffering itself, suffering is said to be the arising that creates suffering, pacification is said to be cessation. Those are also said to be the noble Manjushri, and, the ten aspects are the occasion of the ten meanings, dividing the ego-grasping into ten kinds, and, the meaning is, dividing into ten kinds of antidotes. Thus, the incompatible and those antidotes are the noble Manjushri. Like this, etc., because it is explained that the essence of all dharmas is the noble Manjushri. Therefore, all the names that praise such qualities also become his names. Then, how does the noble Manjushri pervade all dharmas? Here it is said: Immutable, all-pervading, pervader. Or, abiding in the hearts of all Buddhas. Or, abiding in the minds of all sentient beings. Like this, etc., for that pervading in four ways is like this: the nature of dharma, and, wisdom, and, great compassion, and, activity. Among them, pervading by the nature of dharma is: all dharmas are empty of self-nature, without self, like this
