It is through practice that one cultivates and enters, which is the condition. The characteristic of the result is that it becomes manifest through familiarity. The basis for the three characteristics is the four kinds of realization. Regarding these, the state of merely knowing, the state of familiarizing oneself with it, and the state of manifestation through the power of familiarity, these three states are called the three characteristics. Regarding this, the two characteristics of knowing and entering become capable, thereby obtaining the essence of what is called a vidyādhara. From then on, until the result is perfected, one is called a vidyādhara. Even after perfection, there is no fault in holding the name vidyādhara in one aspect. This should be understood as follows: the two characteristics of knowing and entering do not go beyond being connected to the result, therefore they are also dhāraṇī, and they are also the cause and condition for ripening the result. The cause and condition become capable, thereby possessing the power to produce the result. Even if the result has not manifested, one has obtained the essence of what is called a vidyādhara, and one also obtains prophecies in the Buddhafields. For example, in a certain world, there exists a certain vidyādhara, who at a certain time will accomplish the deeds of the Buddha. Thus, prophecies are given and virtues are praised, becoming widely known. So, by what lineage of birth and going is that vidyādhara encompassed? And by what ground is it encompassed? It is said: "Humans, gods, and Brahmās, Though holding pure births, Particularly, there is a change of abode on the ground." Thus it is said. Regarding this, by what lineage of beings is it encompassed? It is held by the pure lineages of humans and gods of the desire realm, and beings and goers of the form realm such as Brahmā. In the formless realm, birth is not sought, because it is not necessary. By what ground is it encompassed? The grounds encompassed by existence are not necessary here, so they are not mentioned. The ground of wisdom is, "Particularly, there is a change of abode on the ground." Thus it is said. Regarding this, the particular ground is the thirteen Buddha grounds in the way of secret mantra.

It is called "Pa." Similarly, it is also called the Vajra Holder Ground, or the Ground of the Great Assembly of Letters Mandala, or the Ground of Vidyadharas, etc. The way these grounds are categorized is: for example, a fish caught by an osprey, even though it has not left the realm of water, is categorized as belonging to the land. Similarly, those who have become capable through causes and conditions, even though they have not left the realm of existence, because they have occupied the ground of wisdom, are categorized as belonging to the ground of great wisdom itself. The distinctions of Vidyadharas, in some texts, also appear in conjunction with the five paths that are famous in general texts. In the instructions of the ancient masters, it is also said that there is entering the ground, abiding in the ground, and maturing in the ground. Furthermore, it is also said that there are the Vidyadhara of Complete Ripening, the Vidyadhara of Longevity, and the Vidyadhara of the Great Seal. Regarding the Vidyadhara of the Great Seal, in some texts it is said: "One's own body is the great seal of the Victorious One, the deity who manifests through meditation, possessing marks and signs and clairvoyance, is known as the Vidyadhara of the Great Seal." Some say: "The Great Seal is the formless Dharmakaya." However, here, those who have become capable through causes and conditions are known as Vidyadharas in the Buddhafields, and it is said that they are categorized by special grounds. The definitive meaning of Vidyadhara is: it is called "Vidyadhara" (Tibetan: བི་ད་ངྷ་ར་). "Vidya" (Sanskrit Devanagari: विद्या, Sanskrit Romanization: vidyā, Chinese literal meaning: knowledge) is mantra, the nature of wisdom and prajna; "dhara" (Sanskrit Devanagari: धर, Sanskrit Romanization: dhara, Chinese literal meaning: holder) is holding, referring to the sentient beings' continuum that possesses this. With such power, the thirteenth ground of the Buddha is also called the Ground of Great Joy, the Vidyadhara Ground. In some cases, those who have accomplished mantras are also called "Vidyadhara" (Tibetan: བི་ད་ངྷ་ར་). Now, in order to show the qualities of Vidyadhara, it is said in the scriptures: "Perfectly completing all the Paramitas, skillful means and wisdom are the supreme of skillful means, wisdom is the supreme of the supreme, the distinctions of the grounds are thirteen, the distinctions of cause and effect are naturally perfect." That is to say, in the commonly known Mahayana of characteristics, through the gateway of the ten Paramitas, the ten grounds are gradually perfected, and ultimately unsurpassed enlightenment will be accomplished. Here, the cause and

It is said to be spontaneously perfect without seeking. How is that? To practice without clinging or obstruction to all dharmas is to show that the perfection of generosity, along with its fruit, is spontaneously perfect without seeking. Similarly, to be untouched by knowledge of equality, and to be unsurpassed, is morality. To be without disturbance and to have the complete mark of wisdom is patience. To be without decline and for actions to become a collection is diligence. Although the senses enter all objects, to know that one does not waver from equality and to manifestly know the nature of all dharmas is meditation. Because of realizing the nature without inversion, not grasping or transcending all dharmas is wisdom. If it is like that, then the remaining perfections that belong to the category of wisdom will also be spontaneously perfected. Becoming for the sake of oneself and others is skillful means. Completely purifying the fields and realms of experience is aspiration. Not being overwhelmed by opposing forces is strength. Realizing the meaning as it is is wisdom. Thus, the ten perfections will be spontaneously perfected at once. Similarly, the ten bhumis do not need to be gradually purified over a long period of time, but will be quickly and spontaneously perfected. What is called "skillful means and wisdom, the best of skillful means" is the ground of all-illuminating light. Thus, the ten perfections and the ten bhumis are encompassed by skillful means and wisdom, and the fruit of the skillful means of those bhumis is the ground of all-illuminating light, because by emitting many rays of light, the beings to be subdued are made fit vessels. Therefore, the buddha ground is commonly known as all-illuminating light. What is called "supreme wisdom" is the ground of the lotus. This is what some uncommon treatises say: the dharmakaya, without moving from the ground of all-illuminating light, possesses uncontaminated wisdom and inconceivable compassion. What is called "the supreme" is the ground of supreme skillful means and wisdom. With such blessings, the infinite mandalas of the buddhas arise spontaneously without effort, so it is called the ground of supreme skillful means and wisdom, or the ground of the great assembly of the wheel of letters.
