It is the nature of generating joy for all directions. Then, the vajra clasped hands are properly joined, becoming inseparable from method and wisdom, generating the great bliss of ultimate truth, and by that power, generating the joy of engaging in the benefit of sentient beings. Therefore, the vajra clasped hands are the cause of the arising of mudras from both the aspect of meaning and sign. Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) and Mum (藏文:མཱུཾ,梵文天城体:मुṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mūṃ,汉语字面意思:穆) are joined at the tips. And so on, generally, it is the samaya mudra. Among them, Om (藏文:ཨོཾ,梵文天城体:ओम्,梵文罗马拟音:oṃ,汉语字面意思:嗡) is the right index finger, and Mum (藏文:མཱུཾ,梵文天城体:मुṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mūṃ,汉语字面意思:穆) is the left middle finger. After joining these two at the tips, the remaining eight letters' fingers are crossed with each other, with their tips touching. As it is said in the Net of Means: "Fingers crossed inwards and bent, middle, index, thumb, and little fingers, each with tips touching, extended outwards, ring fingers joined and raised, this is the samaya mudra." It should be applied in accordance with this. The benefit of this mudra is: "Joining with all the victorious ones, it is the mudra that bestows great bliss." It is said, that is, becoming inseparable from all the victorious ones, one obtains their great bliss. How should the letters be placed on the fingers? This is not clearly stated here, and what is stated in other tantras is also slightly different. In some tantras, it is said that the middle finger is called "Uma," and it is known as the Tathagata family. The index finger is called "Wrathful Mother" or "Terrifying Mother," and it is the Vajra family. The thumb is called "Big Mother," and it is the Ratna family. The ring finger is called "Empowering Mother," and it is the Padma family. The little finger is called "End Mother" or "Small Mother," and it is known as the Karma family. In other tantras, it is also known differently. Among them, since the mind is mainly emphasized in this tantra, Hum (藏文:ཧཱུཾ,梵文天城体:हुं,梵文罗马拟音:hūṃ,汉语字面意思:吽) is placed on the right middle finger, and the other fingers are applied in order. On the left middle finger, Mum (藏文:མཱུཾ,梵文天城体:मुṃ,梵文罗马拟音:mūṃ,汉语字面意思:穆) is placed, on the ring finger, Mam (藏文:མཱཾ,梵文天城体:मां,梵文罗马拟音:māṃ,汉语字面意思:芒) is placed, on the index finger, Lam (藏文:ལཱཾ,梵文天城体:लां,梵文罗马拟音:lāṃ,汉语字面意思:朗) is placed, on the little finger, Tam (藏文:ཏཱཾ,梵文天城体:तां,梵文罗马拟音:tāṃ,汉语字面意思:当) is placed, and on the thumb, Pyam (藏文:པྱཾ,梵文天城体:प्यं,梵文罗马拟音:pyaṃ,汉语字面意思:榜) should be placed. This is what the well-known U-Tsang tradition says. Apply according to the text of the Net of Means, this is what the well-known Kham tradition says. In general, there is no fault in applying what is not clearly stated in accordance with what is commonly known. The mudras of the five Buddha families, male and female, are: for the male Buddhas, the respective letters of the right hand.

On the tips of the lotus petals, each holds their respective emblems and hand gestures at their hearts. The five letters of the left hand are entwined with the vajra and bell, so the blessings of Amitabha Buddha reside relying on the left foot. The consorts hold the burning bells with their left hands, each of their letters entwined at the tips of their fingers, at their hearts. The five letters of the right hand are entwined with the main deity, so the blessings of the karma family will touch the right foot. The heroes hold their respective emblems in their right hands at their hearts, and their left hands are the same as the main deities. The heroines hold their respective emblems in their left hands at their hearts, and their right hands are the same as the main consorts. The gatekeepers and gatekeepers are also the same. When demonstrating the mudras of the six Thubpas, it is said, "The consort is the realm of phenomena without object." The meaning of this is that all mudras are said to be the characteristic of pleasing the deity. Here, too, it is said that the union of skillful means and wisdom is the most supreme of those that generate joy, therefore it is a mudra. The six Thubpas are the way of abandoning the five objects of desire, so because the consort who appears in a form body does not reside, one might think that there is no mudra that pleases through the union of skillful means and wisdom. Therefore, it is said, "The consort is the realm of phenomena without object," meaning that the realm of phenomena itself is the great mudra of the great mudra, so it pleases. "Samantabhadra's equal abiding wisdom radiates," means that Samantabhadra's mudra is equal abiding, and from that radiates the light of wisdom. Samantabhadri's mudra is expressed as "The consort transforms in the center of the equal and complete lotus," meaning that it is spontaneously accomplished in equality, so it is equal and complete, and the mudra is the same as the father. If we differentiate a little, the way of residing is residing in the lotus posture. These and so on, according to the capacity of those to be tamed, the mudras are also countless, so it is said, "There are also various mudras." For those who like brevity, if you do not want to apply many mudras, then it is okay to only make the general samaya mudra of the five Tathagatas, or it is okay to only make the vajra palm mudra, there is no contradiction shown.
