That child, when compared to each other, will become as true as the nature of gold. Similarly, the appearance of the alaya-vijnana, the various realms, will also become as true as the realm of pure appearance. Just as neither mercury nor gold is ever constant, so too, all pure and impure appearances are appearances due to the power of the habits of delusion, and are not truly established. In the state of the Buddha, where all delusions are completely cut off, whether or not there is appearance is a matter of debate, which has already been explained a little earlier. Therefore, in this case where the five skandhas are explained as the five families, some say that because there is no self-nature in the ultimate sense, it is the Buddha, and because in the conventional sense it is the cause that can become the Buddha, it is established as the Buddha. The nature of things is as true as impure appearances. So they say. It should not be established in that way, but only in the conventional sense, the appearance of the skandhas, just as they appear, is also the nature of the countless Buddhas, together with the completely pure realms. And when those two appearances are compared to each other, they are established as true like completely pure appearances. It should be established in this way. Therefore, even one of the objects of the eye, such as color, which is a distinction of the skandhas, is the nature of countless Buddhas. So, what is it that the skandhas, elements, and sense bases are explained by associating them with individual deities? That is because it is its nature, so there is no fault of contradiction, and if the differences are clearly familiarized individually, the appearance will quickly become pure, therefore it is explained in that way. So, what is the need for explaining the Dharma in accordance with the tantras and sadhanas? This is to guide those who are very attached to the objects of ordinary appearance. If it is explained through the consistency of characteristics and the consistency of cause and effect, the wisdom of non-duality of nature will arise, therefore it is explained in that way.

As it is said in the scripture: "Why is the Bodhicitta, which is the earth of anger, ignorance, and great pride and jealousy, clearly shown as the Vajra Tathagata?" Also, as stated in the Vimalakirti Sutra: "Just as a lotus does not grow on dry land but grows in mud, similarly, the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi does not arise from those who manifest conditioned phenomena. By generating the view of the perishable aggregate like Mount Sumeru, the mind of unsurpassed Bodhi will arise. Therefore, afflictions are the lineage of the Tathagata." In the Net of Means, during the discussion of vows without protection, it is said that the nature of the five afflictions and the nature of the five families are in harmony. It is said that these two are inseparable, as a vow that does not transgress their essence. Thus, ignorance is included in the category of non-discrimination, so it is the nature body without abandonment or adoption, and it is the Tathagata family. Anger is the nature of subduing the wicked without moving from the realm of Dharma, and it is the Vajra family. Pride is the nature of standing firm in the equality of Dharma, and it is the Ratna family. Desire is the nature of having mastery over all Dharmas, and it is the Padma family. Jealousy is the nature of benefiting sentient beings because those who have not realized the equality of Dharma have good and bad karma, and it is the Karma family. These are the great afflictions, and they are in harmony with the ordinary afflictions in their respective natures, but they are not in harmony in terms of the actions of objects and mind, etc. Therefore, if we take these as true according to how they appear, then only the similarity of Dharma will be shown. If we think according to the reality of things, then, as mentioned above, it will be accomplished as the nature of the Buddha. The five afflictions, the five Buddha families, and the five aggregates are combined in accordance with the Dharma, which is the same in terms of nature. In the Secret Assembly, it is said: "Form is shown as ignorance, and it is the nature bound by fools. Feeling is shown as intoxicated by desire, and it is the nature of pride. Conception is the nature of desire, and it is the characteristic of attachment to things. Volition is always jealousy, and it is the nature of concentration. Consciousness is shown as anger, and it is the cause and effect."
