The reason for doing so is also because it relies on the scriptures, and it is due to not losing the wisdom arising from reason. It should be known that something like this is also the purifier of all reason. Now, let's talk about the text itself. First of all, for a river that is commonly manifested by beings, although everyone agrees that it is a wet flow, the pretas see it flowing with pus and blood, etc., as a completely impure river. People see it as a river that is clean, clear, without impurities, does not harm the stomach and throat, and enhances sensory functions. The beings in the pure land see it as a very pure nectar river, which greatly enhances sensory functions and also eliminates diseases, and it will not be digested until the karmic obscurations are eliminated. When the karmic obscurations are eliminated and the Buddha's activities are fully accomplished, then it will be digested. The cause of these disputes is that everyone agrees that it is wet. Therefore, there is no dispute about whether it is water or not. Since the perceptions of impure water, pure water, and very pure water are different, therefore, each person uses their own direct perception as the standard, thereby refuting other different characteristics. If these situations are measured with impartial wisdom, then the more pure the perception, the more true it is, because it is the realm experienced by the senses of those who have cleared away the stains of karmic obscurations. If it is judged based on a certain standard, then it is stable and will not deceive. Similarly, regarding this Buddha-field of the Bhagavan Shakyamuni Buddha, the Venerable Shariputra said, "I see this great earth filled with unevenness, cliffs, and garbage." The Brahma with a topknot who came from the Buddha-field of No Sorrow said, "I see this Buddha-field of the Bhagavan, like the splendor of the Paranirmita-vasavartin heaven, completely pure." The two of them therefore argued. After that, the Bhagavan showed the nature of this Buddha-field to all the mandala of attendants, and everyone saw the Buddha-field of the Buddha Jeweled Ornament in the east.

Like a mother. Having appeared exceedingly pure, the Blessed One said: "My Buddha-field is always like this, but you do not see it." Like this, even in times of dispute, the fact that the realm of the Blessed One Shakyamuni is the world of the four continents is seen in common, so there is no dispute about this. If there is a dispute about whether a field is pure or impure, the Blessed One has shown that it is exceedingly pure. Similarly, regarding the very entities of the aggregates, elements, and sense-bases, from sentient beings in hell up to bodhisattvas who rule the great earth and vidyadharas, they all commonly appear as body, place, and sphere of activity without being inverted, so there is no dispute about this. Since there is disagreement in how things appear as impure, pure, and completely pure, each person takes what is manifestly established for themselves as valid and disputes that it contradicts other characteristics. If one were to discern this with an impartial mind, the greater the purity, the greater the wisdom, as before. Among these, the impure body is what appears as the body, speech, and mind that are the ripening of karma. The pure body is the body, speech, and mind that are accomplished from the aspirations of those who have gained mastery over karma. The exceedingly pure is what appears as the body of the victorious ones and the mandala of wisdom. These are ways of reasoning that are established in accordance with those who assert that external objects exist. If we were to establish this in accordance with the Yogacara and others who all hold that everything is a manifestation of mind, then everything that appears as body, place, and sphere of activity does not exist as a separate entity in reality, but mind itself appears, which is commonly established. For those who have firmly established that reasoning, the mind is also the nature of the alaya-consciousness. It is established that the object and the image are not completely cut off, and that all seeds are in accordance with various conditions. For those who have firmly established this, that too is based on the power of the momentary continuum of the alaya, but it is not to be argued that it appears as all phenomena and has all seeds. Rather, the moment of the alaya that arises and does not cease is the moment of all appearances and all seeds, just as it is said in the scriptures: That consciousness
