It is said, "If one has passed away, they are not a Buddha." This is what was said. Now, to point out the faults of associating with those who have broken their vows. In that regard, it is said: "Do not diligently strive to heal the immoral conduct of those who have fallen from the root." The means of restoring what is broken is this: if the vow of the body is broken, it is said to restore it to the Dharma that is seen. From birth until death, there is a way to slightly reduce sins, but there is no way to eradicate them from the root. This is what was said. If the vow of speech is broken, it is said to restore it as it was broken. Alternatively, with wisdom and samadhi, all speech should be understood and meditated upon as the words of mantra. If the vow of mind is broken, there is no actual way to restore it. However, with wisdom and samadhi, all dharmas are understood as non-dual, and one becomes accustomed to that. With great compassion, all sentient beings are regarded as having the essence of bodhichitta, and one dwells for a long time on the fact that there is no being that is not a field of compassion, thereby restoring it. One should not even speak for a moment with those who are falling in this way and do not diligently strive to heal themselves, let alone be their protector or sleep with them. This is called being afflicted by the fault of a fallen companion. Just as it is said in the sutras, one beggar who has lost merit will close the door to the livelihood of all the beggars who live with him. These and so on are the detailed explanations of the faults of breaking vows. This vow is the great Vajra, it is the nature of all Buddhas. This is explaining the nature of the vow. How is it understood? The nature of vows is the three natures of body, speech, and mind, like the Vajra, and it never transcends this state. Similarly, all ethics and vows are merely contained in the characteristics of entering and withdrawing from the actions and non-actions of body, speech, and mind. All of these are contained in this great action. Therefore, these three characteristics like the Vajra are both the nature of body, speech, and mind, and also the characteristic of abiding in it. The Buddhas of the three times

All Buddhas are also merely the nature of body, speech, and mind vajra, and there is nothing else apart from that. Therefore, this samaya is the nature of the body, speech, and mind of all sentient beings, the essence of all Buddhas, the life force of all dharmas, and the most supreme of all trainings. Explaining the nature of samaya is also included in the extensive explanation of the qualities of samaya. Now, in order to explain the various distinctions of samaya, or to explain the necessity of various detailed explanations, it is said, "The root samayas are five, and one also has two and thirty." Regarding this, one root samaya is further divided into thirty-two, thus becoming one hundred and sixty. One branch samaya is further divided into twenty, thus becoming two hundred, totaling three hundred and sixty. In general, there are three hundred and sixty samayas and fifteen roots, which is just said from the perspective of what is being taught. These categories are not established as categories of distinction of individual characteristics, but rather as categories of qualities that transcend calculation, so there is no separate distinction of characteristics. Regarding this, the explanation of the former Uma Pa masters is that all samayas are the nature of deities, and the root of all deities is the two, skillful means and wisdom, thus there are two roots. Its qualities are like the three of body, speech, and mind vajra, thus there are six branches. Its parts are the five of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities, thus it is divided into thirty-two kinds of distinctions. The branch samaya is that the branch should be divided into twenty, and one also has the five branches of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities. The three entities of body, speech, and mind also dissolve into it, so there is no basis for the branch. The two roots, skillful means and wisdom, are also skillful means possessing wisdom, and wisdom possessing skillful means, so the two roots dissolve and become four branches. This also becomes part of the five of body, speech, mind, qualities, and activities, so there is no remainder of the root, and the branches and parts become twenty each. In short, at the time of the root distinction, it is said to have the root, to have the essence, to have the qualities, and to have the branches and sub-branches. At the time of the branch distinction, it is without the root,
