I, the fourth incarnate Mingyur Namkhai Dorje, also praised the greatness of this holy being's virtues with the eye of wisdom, and as he said, it is necessary to reside in this place and establish the tradition of teaching and practice. Through the explanation of various Sutra and Tantra treatises, the oral transmission of the Kangyur Rinpoche, the practice of the Vinaya's three bases, and the activities such as the printing of the Kama's practice rituals, he became a great support for the Nyingma tradition. Nowadays, no matter where, various traditions of studying the treatises such as the Five Treatises of Maitreya and Madhyamaka have arisen, and the practice of the Vinaya's three bases has also naturally spread throughout the Nyingma tradition and in monasteries of other schools in Dokham that previously did not have summer retreats, etc. The lineage of the entire Kangyur has also increased day by day and spread across the earth, which is entirely due to the power of this holy being's aspiration and prayer. He possesses excellent qualities of erudition, discipline, and virtue, and has a great aspiration to restore the teaching and practice tradition of the Early Translation School from its roots. If he were to live a long life, the flourishing of the Dharma would undoubtedly increase like the summer ocean. However, the merit of sentient beings could not bear such a thing, and the venerable one himself believed that if he were to practice as a yogi, his life could be prolonged and it would be beneficial for the propagation of the Secret Mantra. Although some holy beings urged him to do so, he did not listen, saying: I follow the conduct of the teacher Buddha, and if I die in this state, I will have no regrets for myself. For the benefit of others, no matter from which aspect, I will continue to complete the work of the Dharma through the power of aspiration. On the night of his passing, he only asked permission from the Tathagata, untied his hair, and fell asleep in a state of mindfulness and awareness. He never untied his hair at other times, and he did not have even the slightest misconduct of lying down, etc., that was inconsistent with the Vinaya. The previous preface and these words were only privately spoken by the virtuous friend Pema Zangpo, who always attended to the venerable one in his later years, and were not publicly proclaimed.

Although I have not become such a person, I have written here without mixing in the slightest addition or subtraction, just as I heard directly from the Lama. The direct disciples of that great being also include the glorious Tulku Rinpoche Jigme Chökyi Wangpo and Khenchen Pema Vajra, as well as many other great beings, and many learned and virtuous friends who hold the three trainings as pure as gold. This is said as an aside. As for the subject at hand, the esteemed Gönchenpa (Gönchen Shyerap Wozer, 1284-1349) himself could not find the writings of Rongzom Pandita (Rongzom Chökyi Zangpo, c. 1042-1136) in the Kham region (present-day Ganzi area of Sichuan), so he searched everywhere in the U-Tsang region (present-day Lhasa and Shigatse areas of the Tibet Autonomous Region) with various efforts, and found two volumes. When he was preparing to print them, the commentary on the Guhyagarbha Tantra was assisted by Rongzom's direct disciple, the strictly disciplined Vinaya-holder and great scholar Ling Tulku, and the rest was personally completed by Gyalsé Gönchenpa. Due to the general lack of merit of beings in the degenerate age, Gyalsé Gönchenpa himself passed away, causing the printing project to be abandoned halfway. Most of the printing blocks were not cataloged, and were damaged, and the proofreading and other work were not completed and were left there. Later, the reincarnation of the esteemed Gönchenpa, Gönchen Chökyi Nangwa, wanted to carry out the proofreading and other work of the printing blocks from a young age, but due to various reasons, he could not complete it immediately. Later, he himself spent a long time in strict retreat and practice, and the matter was temporarily put aside. I, who am called Mipham, also wanted to proofread the printing blocks of these great treatises for a long time, and some people urged me to do so, but I was unable to do anything due to illness. In the summer of the fifteenth Rabjung Wood Dragon year (1904), due to the blessings of the Three Jewels and the good wishes of the previous masters, I had a conversation with the incarnate Lama, and he immediately expressed his approval and happily presented gifts, saying that it would be good if I could fulfill my long-held wish, and gave me the original manuscripts of the printing blocks, which he had found in the writings of the previous master. I also carried out collation and understanding of the meaning of the words.
