The teacher of gods and humans, the incomparable kinsman of the sun (Shakyamuni Buddha). The Bodhisattva Manjushri and the great regents (Bodhisattvas). The supreme ornaments of Jambudvipa, Indian and Tibetan scholars and accomplished ones, I prostrate to the assembly of direct and lineage gurus. The wisdom of the play of Manjushri's magical net, Possessing the radiant light of the two knowledges like the sun, The crown jewel of all scholars of the Land of Snows, May Rongzom Chökyi Zangpo be victorious! Noble son, hero, protector of the teachings and beings in degenerate times, Whose altruistic mind and boundless activity, With a network of rays, illuminates all directions, Having prostrated to the feet of the glorious lama, In order to make the traces of the holy ones and their virtuous qualities, Appear clearly without being erased, A brief catalog, together with the history related to this excellent explanation, Shall be clearly stated. Furthermore, in this land of Tibet, the incarnate translators, panditas, and dharma kings, after spreading the great light of the explanation and practice of both sutra and tantra of the holy Dharma, many holy beings appeared. At the time when the terms "Early Translation Secret Mantra" and "Later Translation Secret Mantra" began to be formed, Rongzom Pandita, who appeared in the guise of Manjushri Kumara, was a great scholar unparalleled in the three times in this Land of Snows. He was born in Narung Rong (present-day Rongga Township, Angren County, Rikaze Prefecture, Tibet), in the lower Tsang Ru region, as the son of Rong Ban Rinchen Tsultrim, a lineage of accomplished mantra practitioners. From the moment of his birth, he possessed innate qualities of wisdom, and the conduct of a holy being was clearly evident without obscuration. Therefore, some people, including his father, said that he was the immediate rebirth of Pandita Smriti Jnana. Some said that he was the rebirth of Pandita Phala Rinchen, who had come to Tibet. It is said that even when he was an infant in his mother's lap, he spoke Sanskrit and various Dharma stories. His mother held him in her lap and, together with relatives, went to see Jowo Chenpo Marmey Dze (Atisha) at the Rong hot springs. This child...

From the moment he was born, he could speak various Chinese languages and Dharma talks. What was this about? Jowo asked him to give a Dharma talk, and Jowo took the child on his lap and, with a smile, asked in Indian language, "ki na ho." The child answered without hesitation. Jowo said, "This is the reincarnation of Acharya Nagpopa Chenpo, who just passed away. How can I have him give a Dharma talk?" He praised and respected him, and thus, his reputation as an undisputed incarnation spread to everyone. At that time, some people said without thinking that Nagpopa had become a Buddha in the bardo, so he should not be reborn. Some said that Nagpopa was said to have attained the highest accomplishment in the bardo, but even if he was a Buddha, why wouldn't there be an emanation of craftsmanship and the great Bodhi? As a child, he liked to see all the Indian acharyas, and naturally, he could understand each other's languages. When he was young, he listened to teachings from Gartön Tsultrim Zangpo. Through Dharma talk joke debates, he overwhelmed the courage of everyone present. Once, when his father went to deliver food, some of the monks present said, "Your little son is too fond of fault-finding. He is very good at picking on us, so it is better to take him back." The father asked the teacher if he should take him back, and the teacher said, "Don't say that. He has understood all the Dharma without reversing it. It is not meaningless fault-finding." At the age of twelve, he studied the methods of reasoning of definitions and epistemology. In all the Dharma gatherings, even in children's games, whatever the teacher said, he would recite it clearly like a print, without omission or error. He understood everything he heard in one go, without missing a single word, so he became widely known as an emanation of Manjushri. At the age of thirteen, he completed all the hearing, contemplation, and meditation, so that no one could teach him anything new. Even without studying books like the Vibhasa, he could understand them effortlessly by just looking at them. He naturally mastered various languages such as Sanskrit, and even understood the expressions of animals and the order of languages.
