It is said that he knew everything like a lotus. From a young age, he composed many treatises such as the "Commentary on the Gate of Speech." He benefited immeasurably those who were devoted to the Dharma, and especially those who entered the gate of secret mantras, with various methods of accomplishing activities and attainments. Not to mention all the inner and outer cultures and academics, the Vedas, the treatises on valid cognition, verses, and poetic texts that were widely known in India and Tibet. Because he naturally possessed a vast and limitless system of tenets, not relying merely on a few fragments of each text, he clearly manifested the characteristics of a great noble being who had attained the four individually correct knowledges. Even those profound scriptures of sutras, tantras, and treatises that he had not seen before, he needed to see only once, or at most twice, to completely comprehend all the words and meanings, and it is said that he obtained the dharani of non-forgetfulness, without needing to consult the texts again. The venerable one himself said, "I am not one of little learning, for there is no Dharma translated into Tibetan that I have not heard. Nor do I grasp things very quickly, for I need to hear all the Dharma only once." It is said that he spoke thus. This may be because he had attained the samadhi of the Dharma lineage, and could grasp immeasurable Dharma in each moment. But on the common level, it seems that this was said in accordance with the way he listened and contemplated. He was unrivaled in the terminology of combining Indian and Tibetan languages to explain the way meanings are applied. By the power of his immaculate wisdom, which thoroughly revealed the meaning of all objects of knowledge through the path of reasoning, and his unrivaled eloquence that was profound, vast, and swift, it was as if the wisdom of Dignaga, the debate of Dharmakirti, the learning of Vasubandhu, the speech of Chandragomin, and the compositions of Acharya Shura were all gathered in one person. Many scholars praised him in the midst of the assembly as being worthy of praise. In particular, the scholars of that time praised him, saying that there was nothing superior to this in grammar and epistemology, not only in Tibet but also in India. Furthermore, the people of that time said, "Marpa Chokyi Lodrö was skilled in writing, Cho Chakdrik was skilled in arithmetic, and Ngok Lotsawa Khukpa was skilled in grammar and epistemology. All were gathered in Cho.
