My own eye of wisdom is small, and especially this profound and extensive teaching is very strict, because it is not my field, and there are so many things to do that it is difficult to complete, and it is difficult for many people in the working group to coordinate for a long time. Considering these reasons, I was unable to accept the command. Later, when the steward Pema Lekdrup printed the three volumes of "Comprehensive Knowledge," he brought generous offerings of flowers to Lama Jamyang Yonten and many other scholars, asking for help with proofreading, but it did not come to fruition. Now that this is your lama's treatise, it is very important for you to proofread it. If not, even if it is printed, it will only be discarded like a pile of wood eaten by insects. Now, we really can't find anyone to proofread it, etc., he said with a very frustrated mood. Because there were only three volumes, I thought it was a little better, and I couldn't disobey the command of the holy one, so I pretended to proofread in the winter. At that time, the steward himself was in charge of managing the monastery's treasury. Before I came from Lhundrupteng (place name), the steward said, "As long as I can get in touch with the 'Treasury of Precious Treasures,' I can carve two volumes, and even if I can't, I must carve one volume, so that part of the proofreading still can't go wrong." Although I gave many reasons, such as that no one can do the proofreading, he still insisted that at least one volume should be produced. Later, in the following year, when the great figures pushed each other and were unwilling to take responsibility for managing the treasury, the steward himself finally took responsibility and was about to organize a working group. In Tashi Ne (place name), Gaje Drodok, a wealthy and faithful patron, sponsored the establishment of the Kagye Eight Great Practices, presided over by Rinpoche Lama. When the steward also came, as the offering person and the patron, everyone agreed that the steward issued an order to me that proofreading must be carried out. Because I was worried about disobeying his wishes, I did not dare to refuse, but accepted. From that year on, for the past eleven years, I proofread as much as I knew. Previously, in the Fire Rat year, my brother Karma Tseten started proofreading, and stopped after about one summer due to other reasons.

For about three months in the following year, Kyabje Sonam Choephel Rinpoche was present. Later, apart from one proofreader, there were no other assistants, and I had to rely solely on my own knowledge and understanding to proofread. Therefore, there were many areas of ignorance and lack of understanding. Although the precious Kanjur and Tanjur were proofread by about twenty or thirty proofreading officials, both senior and junior, there were still uncorrected errors. Nevertheless, I did not become complacent, thinking that it had been done for so long, or that it was not a big deal even if there were these errors. Instead, I exerted myself to the best of my ability, with as much effort as I could muster. Moreover, even for most of the original texts, I did not dare to arbitrarily alter the essential points of meaning, but for those words that had to be modified, I did so. There were very many instances of omissions and additions in the original texts. The added parts were relatively easy to identify, but the omitted parts were very difficult to determine, and it was impossible to find other versions for comparison. Even when found, most of the old versions were different, making it difficult to judge which version was correct. In addition, most of the secret instructions, such as mantras, were hidden and tampered with, and most had become the handbooks of village mantra practitioners. Even when damaged, it was difficult to distinguish them as they were originally. These were very difficult to determine, so I consulted Je Rinpoche and others, and corrected what I knew through these means. For those parts that I did not know at all, I had no choice but to leave them as they were. For the later new Terma, those that were personally seen by the Tertons seemed to be correct. However, for those versions that were divided and copied, even when only one copy was made, there were great errors. Those errors that I knew for sure, I corrected. In addition, the terminology and mantras of the ancient tradition should not be modified by logic, so they were left as they were. When the printing blocks were finished, I carefully compared the versions and entrusted the places that needed to be modified to the person in charge of modification. After the modification was completed, I carefully checked whether the modifications were correct. For the already engraved versions, I carefully compared them once, and then examined the modified errors and previously unseen places, so that I proofread them three times in total. In addition, when making the printing blocks, I also distinguished the size and quality of the letters, and whether the engraving work could be completed smoothly, etc. In short, it was like steering a boat across a river.
