It appears as a dreamlike support. The definition is: generally, it is the state between confusion and liberation; specifically, it is the state between the disappearance of the appearance of reality and before taking the actual body of the six realms; because confusion, liberation, and the height and lowness of the support can all change, it is called the intermediate state. The divisions are: the intermediate state of birth and death arising from sudden change, or the nature of the intermediate state; the intermediate state of dying; the intermediate state of reality; the intermediate state of existence, of which there are four, and here it refers to the intermediate state of existence as the place of establishment. Its characteristics are: as stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: "Having the form of the previous existence, all senses complete, unimpeded movement, possessing the power of karmic miracles, irreversible, that is the Gandharva." And as extensively explained in the Great Tantra of the Union of the Sun and Moon, the longest is forty-nine days, the shortest is seven days or an instant. At this time, just as one is eager to climb up after falling from a horse on the battlefield, one should quickly and diligently plant the roots of virtue with eagerness and aspiration for the next life. Secondly, regarding the actual place of establishment, there are two: a general explanation and a detailed explanation. The first is: the phrase "place, etc." refers to clearly establishing the place of establishment, and the method of purifying its sins and increasing its merits, thereby easily traversing the five paths, and the actions after the completion of the place of establishment, which are summarized in three aspects. The second has three aspects: clearly establishing the place, the method of purifying sins and increasing merits, and the subsequent actions. The first is: indicated by "support arises, invites, and merges." The teacher, based on the deity relied upon, performs the practice of the self-front vase, etc., whether extensive or concise, and then, according to the customs of the Indian region, at the south gate of the mandala, using the relics of the deceased as the object of focus, arises and clearly establishes it as it was in life. With the light from the heart of the deity, invites the consciousness wandering in the intermediate state, along with its sins, and merges it indissolubly with the four seals, making it immovable. The second is: "From obstacles, beget as a Buddha-child." It means: for the obstacles to higher realms and liberation, the hordes of demons that make the obstacles of the living and the iron hooks of the dead, offer tormas and ransom with peaceful means, command with a combination of peaceful and wrathful means, and for those who do not listen, expel them far away with wrathful threats, annihilating them without remainder.

The instruction for inviting protection is the path of the assembly. From beginningless time, wandering in the six realms of samsara, due to relying on the great ignorance of habit, repeatedly accumulating the heap of sins and downfalls, the obscurations of karma accompany like body and shadow, becoming the cause of samsara and evil destinies, therefore all of that must be abandoned. With purifying mantra mudra, reversal, vase initiation, truth power, etc. Among the many methods of liberation, the main one is the general bath, which is widely praised in the Kun Dus Rigpa Sutra and others, the supreme method of wisdom and skill. The object of focus, the six places of the body, the seed syllables of the six realms to be purified, inherently possess their own nature, and the three purifying syllables are united, with the light from the heart urging purification, from which the self-power of wisdom blazes like fire, burning what is to be purified. The wind stirs and scatters the ashes, and the water arises and washes away the traces of impurity without residue, which is the path of joining. That continuum, which is completely purified, in order to place it in the ranks of the vidyadharas of the sacred ground, in the clear deity of samaya being, the four initiations of the vase, etc., are expanded or condensed, representing the body, speech, and mind initiations, and the empowerment is bestowed and sealed with the ritual of pouring the vajra torma, which is the path of seeing. In this, in order to warm up and cut off the clinging of habit, relying on the actual arrangement of food and drink, the five objects of desire are transformed into an inexhaustible ocean. The essence is the cloud of great bliss without outflows, offered by interweaving mantras and mudras. In order not to regress in samsara, starting from praising its faults and the merits of liberation, in the profound Dharma talk, in the realms of the five families and other pure lands, the path is shown and the breath is relieved, which is the path of meditation. In order to completely perfect and accomplish the five paths, the consciousness is made inseparable from the mind of the principal deity of the mandala, the great Samantabhadra father and mother. He also emanates as a son of the Buddhas from the place of union, aspiring to accomplish the deeds of the Buddhas, which is the representation of the path of no more learning. The third is: Do not explain from the dregs. As it is said, after the pure consciousness has been transferred, the residue of the heap of dregs remains as the basis of habit, which is the manifestation of the mind of the mandala deity.
