The moment it is seen, it is a condition. The manner of arising: Relying on sentient beings, the four immeasurables with objects arise, and relying on the nature of reality, realizing that their own nature is unborn, the four arise without objects, as explained in the Compendium of Topics and the Ornament of Sutras. The order: In the Intermediate Mother Sutra, it says, "Then the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should cultivate great love, great compassion, great joy, and great equanimity." Also, in the Two Examinations Sutra, it says, "First, one should cultivate love. Second, one should cultivate compassion. Third, one should cultivate joy. At the end of all is equanimity." Thus, the sutras and tantras are said to be in agreement. Fifth, the ritual: Those arising from the profound view lineage, the vast conduct lineage, and especially the manner of mantra. Sixth, the precepts: In general, all practices to be undertaken become precepts of the mind of enlightenment, but especially the precepts of aspiration: Not abandoning sentient beings by remembering the benefits of Bodhisattvas, accumulating merit and cultivating the four immeasurables, and adopting and abandoning the eight white and black dharmas. The precepts of entering the path: The manner of learning the six perfections and four means of gathering, which are summarized by the three trainings, will be explained in detail below. Seventh, the benefits: Not to mention not attaining Buddhahood, once Buddhahood is attained, there is no way to avoid it, so the merits are immeasurable, as repeatedly stated in the Great Vehicle's scriptures and treatises. In short: "If the merit of the mind of enlightenment had form, it would fill all of space, and it would be even greater than that." As it says in the sutra. Second, entering the path has three aspects: training in the six perfections to ripen oneself, training in the four means of gathering to ripen others, and condensing the practice of these two into the essence and training in the way of mind training. First: Manifesting for the sake of others. It is said, with the thought of placing other sentient beings, whose minds pervade the sky, on the ground of Buddhahood, one should train in the six perfections of means with the mind of seeking to manifest perfect enlightenment oneself. Also, in the sutra it says: Good Hand! The Bodhisattva Mahasattva quickly manifests perfect enlightenment.

In order to practice, one should constantly and continuously study these six perfections. As it is extensively said, the essence of the first of the six perfections, generosity, is to completely give away possessions with a mind of non-attachment. The motivation is as previously stated, sustained by the intention to seek complete enlightenment for the sake of others. The objects of giving, generosity can be divided into three types: material giving, fearlessness giving, and Dharma giving. Firstly, by being free from the four impure aspects—intention, object, field, and method—and possessing the four pure aspects, one completely gives away without stinginess, like grass, all inner objects belonging to one's own body and outer objects such as wealth and possessions that one owns, to the distinguished four fields of merit, with perfect intention and action. Secondly, for those threatened by fears such as kings, wild animals, enemies, thieves, fire, water, diseases, evil spirits, etc., one combines one's own abilities and gives the appropriate methods of protection that counteract each fear, thereby liberating them from that fear. Thirdly, in order to inspire faith in others and to prevent one's own decline, one must also abandon the impurities of body, speech, and mind, possess the pure three doors, and practice the sacred Dharma, becoming a qualified spiritual friend. Furthermore, it can also bring about the gathering of respect and the interdependent origination of the sentient and insentient worlds. Therefore, for those who desire the Dharma, with a pure mind free from attachment, with the Dharma that suits the capacities of the Great and Small Vehicles, and with skillful means of teaching, one should establish the Dharma that one has learned in their hearts. Secondly, the essence of discipline is to possess the four qualities included in taking and guarding vows. One has the intention to abandon faults and the corresponding mental effort, and with a mind of renunciation, one rejoices and has faith in what is to be learned. The objects of learning can be divided into three types: the Pratimoksha vows, the vows of accumulating virtue, and the vows of benefiting sentient beings. Firstly, the common Pratimoksha vows are of seven types. The uncommon Bodhisattva vows, which come from the teachings of the two great chariots, are all well guarded, cutting off the stream of misdeeds that cause the three doors of body, speech, and mind to become faulty, and protecting oneself from then on. Secondly, mainly the virtuous actions with outflows that are related to the actions of body and speech and are not grasped by wisdom. Mainly the samadhi of the mind.
