Lama glorious Vajrasattva. Fifth, the measure of taking refuge is: knowing the qualities of the Three Jewels; knowing the difference between one's own and others' refuge and the mutual differences within the Three Jewels; after knowing, vowing to take refuge; and not seeking other refuge even for the sake of life, which has four characteristics. Sixth, the precepts are: including all six aspects of affirmation and negation in harmony. Seventh, the benefits are: In the Sutra of the Noble Banner, it says, "For the sake of protecting from all harms, fears, and inferior vehicles, it is said that refuge is supreme." And, "Whoever goes for refuge to the Three, they will quickly attain Buddhahood." And so on, there are endless scriptural references. Second, the main topic is the explanation of the generation of bodhicitta, which has two aspects: relative and ultimate bodhicitta. The first also has two aspects: aspirational and engaging bodhicitta. The first is: "From one's own experience, generate bodhicitta," as it is said. This means that just as oneself in every way does not желать suffering and желать great happiness, inferring from that experience, the six types of beings who have been one's parents also have the same желать. Therefore, since it is necessary for me alone to ensure that they have physical and mental happiness and the merit that is the cause of happiness, and that they are separated from suffering and the karma and afflictions that are the cause of suffering, having recognized them as mothers, generating loving-kindness with the желать to accept them; having recognized that they suffer in samsara, generating compassion that cannot bear to abandon them; joyfully rejoicing in their attainment of the happiness of gods and Buddhas; and equanimity without partiality or hatred. These four, which are vows regarding the cause, are immeasurable because they take all pervasive beings as their object. Through the gateway of the four samadhis, making vows regarding the result, generating aspirational bodhicitta with the thought of establishing all beings in the state of Buddhahood. If we explain the meaning of this a little, there are seven points. First, the nature of bodhicitta is: As it says in the Ornament of Clear Realization, "The generation of bodhicitta is for the sake of others, желать perfect enlightenment." This means that in order to establish all sentient beings in the state of Buddhahood, one oneself желать to attain perfect enlightenment. This arises from four things: cause, friend, power, and so on. Friend, which is for the benefit of all sentient beings.

Driven by the altruistic spirit of bearing great responsibilities oneself, its essence is the wish that all beings attain the perfect Bodhi capable of liberation. Second, the classification: From the faith conduct of ordinary beings to Buddhahood, there are four stages of division, with twenty-two examples, etc. However, from the perspective of definition, these two classifications are both easy to understand and widely known. Just as wanting to walk, wanting to attain Buddhahood is the aspiration Bodhicitta; just as walking, striving to practice the method of realizing Buddhahood is the engaging Bodhicitta. As the Bodhisattvacharyavatara says: "The Bodhicitta, in brief, should be known as having two aspects: the Bodhicitta of aspiration and the Bodhicitta of engagement. Just as the distinction between wanting to go and actually going is known, so the wise should understand the distinction between these two in sequence." Third, the object of focus: As stated in the Bodhisattva-bhumi: "The generation of Bodhicitta is focused on Bodhi and focused on sentient beings." Therefore, the object of focus is seeking the wisdom of the Mahayana, and focusing on the four immeasurables. Fourth, the manner of generation: This is the direct teaching in the scriptures. Among them, the nature of the four immeasurables is: wishing that all sentient beings may encounter new happiness and virtue that they have never had before is loving-kindness; wishing that they may be free from existing suffering and prevent the causes of suffering from arising in the future is compassion; rejoicing and delighting in the happiness of beings is joy; the special state of mind of equanimity, guided by the above three, which is without anger and corresponds to non-attachment, is equanimity, that is, each abandons its incompatible opposite. The meaning of the name is: the number and kinds of sentient beings are inexhaustible, as vast as the sky, and the realm of beings is equally vast, therefore it is called immeasurable. Classification: As stated in the Ratnagotravibhāga: The four, such as loving-kindness, that are not embraced by the Bodhicitta are merely the cause of samsaric happiness, therefore they are called the four Brahmaviharas. When these four are embraced by the Bodhicitta, they become the cause of Nirvana, therefore they are called the four immeasurables. There are four causes for generation: the cause of the inherent nature of the lineage, the self-cause of the virtuous friend, the object-cause of the manifestation of their respective objects, and the benefits and faults.
