The root of all hatred and ignorance is a bad friend, like a poisonous tree. As it is said in the Ratnakuta Sutra: What is a bad friend? Whoever causes virtue to decline and connects with non-virtue should not be approached, not relied upon, and not seen. Moreover, all the appearances of this life are like good and bad dreams in a single sleep, short-lived and meaningless. Therefore, one should completely let go and strive to accomplish the ultimate goal of future lives. Now, one should quickly strive to take the essence of leisure and fortune, because life is impermanent. As it is said: Tomorrow and the next life, it is uncertain which will come first. Do not strive for the affairs of tomorrow, but strive for the sake of the next life. So it is said. The second is: Starting from "conditioned," "should be practiced." In general, all that appears as the vessel and sentient beings is conditioned dharma, assembled from causes and conditions, so nothing is permanent. The sutra says: Monks, all conditioned things are impermanent. How is it impermanent? The Samucchaya Sutra says: All accumulations will eventually be exhausted, all that is erected will eventually fall, all meetings will eventually be separated, and all living will eventually die. Like this, it is impossible to go beyond the four extremes of impermanence. Roughly speaking, the formation and destruction of the vessel and sentient beings, the changes of years, months, and seasons. In detail, every moment is aging and changing, like the rising and setting of the sun and moon, passing by in an instant. In particular, life is impermanent, and it is unknown when one will die. There are many causes of death, so one will surely die quickly, like lightning that disappears in an instant. As it is said in the Vinaya Sutra: Mountain cliffs and rivers flow into the sea, the sun and moon set on the western mountains, day and night pass quickly in an instant, and the lives of beings are the same. So it is said. At the time of death, nothing but the Dharma, wisdom, strength, relatives, and wealth will be of any use. Therefore, one should abandon worldly and superficial dharmas like spitting out ashes, and practice the pure Dharma as taught by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. The third is: Starting from "divine Dharma," "study properly." The Dharma of liberation

The basis or root of practice is: to properly adopt and abandon good and evil with faith in the Buddha's teachings, as well as the maturation of the results of actions of mind (thought), body, and speech. As the "Ratnavali" states: "Attachment, hatred, and ignorance, and the actions they generate, are non-virtuous. From non-virtuous actions come suffering and all the lower realms. Without attachment, hatred, and ignorance, the actions they generate are virtuous. From virtuous actions come all the higher realms and happiness in all lives." Thus, the actions of the three doors, which are instigated by afflictions, with the great sin of the ten non-virtuous actions, lead to hell; the medium leads to hungry ghosts; and the small leads to animals, thus going to the three lower realms and being tormented by intense suffering. With corresponding merit, with the ten virtuous actions complete with retinue, one is born in the higher realms and experiences the fruit of happiness. With the virtuous actions of liberation division, which are held by renunciation and Bodhicitta, one obtains any of the three types of liberation. As the "Samadhiraja Sutra" states: "Actions accumulated will never be lost; in samsara, black and white fruits will ripen." Thus, the ripening of karma never deceives, and the fruits of good and evil are not confused, but mature in the author himself. Actions increase and change, so even a small cause produces a great result. Therefore, for the sins committed in the past, which are divided into four types: throwing karma, completing karma, done karma, and accumulated karma, together with their parts, one must confess before a supreme object, and vow from the bottom of one's heart not to commit them again in the future, thereby restraining oneself. For the root of virtue, together with its parts, even the smallest root of virtue, one must not despise, but must accept with great effort. In addition, with the contaminated common virtuous actions, by prostrating and circumambulating the supports of the Three Jewels, one purifies the sins that are mainly the three non-virtuous actions of the body. By reciting mantras and heart mantras, and reading the Buddha's teachings, sutras, and profound tantras, one purifies the obscurations that are mainly the four non-virtuous actions of speech. Instigated by joy, desire, and trusting faith, by praying to the Three Jewels and the Three Roots, etc., transforming conceptual thoughts into the path of virtuous actions, one pacifies the faults that are mainly the three non-virtuous actions of the mind. Both good and evil depend entirely on one's own mind.
