Transcending the base, the bardo appearing as the nature of reality, and the assembly of peaceful and wrathful deities, all the appearances of light, bindus, rays, sounds, and so on, are believed to be none other than one's own appearances. Like a child entering its mother's lap, one abides in stable awareness, and in the first instant, one recognizes one's own nature. In the second, one is liberated upon recognition. In the third, one dissolves into the realm of primordial purity. If a person of inferior faculties is deluded by the appearance of the union of the four wisdoms and understands them as other, then as soon as those vanish, a mind-body of fabricated birth is formed from the aggregation of the four names, and even if delusion arises in the bardo, where anything is possible, as a mere dream, if one sees the gateway of this Dharma and has unwavering faith, and through the power of the compassion of the lineage lamas, when one recognizes one's own nature in the bardo, one contemplates the field of the self-existing Nirmanakaya, and as if awakening from a dream, one goes to those places and is born miraculously in a lotus. One becomes a Bodhisattva at the end of existence, and by listening to the Dharma from the Sambhogakaya Buddha, one sees the truth and receives empowerment and prophecy, and ultimately attains enlightenment in the primordial field. The fourth root section, the order of removing obstacles, has three parts: showing, explaining, and summarizing. First: Thus, removing obstacles, it is said. Thus, the four empowerments that ripen the continuum, and the supreme path of the four branches of approach and accomplishment that liberate after ripening, when one enters these stages, just as a wealthy merchant is watched for opportunities by external robbers, obstacles arise between outer, inner, and secret. The Compendium says: Sentient beings newly entering the Great Vehicle, those of small intellect, if they do not find this rare jewel, demons will rejoice in order to create obstacles for them. Thus. Whatever obstacles arise, in order to remove them, like an escort of a strong army, the way to rely on the antidotes for each is as follows. The second has two parts: general and specific. First: The meaning is for purification, it is said. The things that obstruct the self-nature of ultimate truth, and all the obstructing obstacles, and all obstructing actions, are not established as true even to the slightest extent, because like a snake's knot, they are primordially self-liberated. One should abandon the unfavorable aspects and adopt the favorable aspects.

Although far beyond all aspects of ground, support, and antidote, these methods should be relied upon in order to tame the illusory wheel of conceptualization of the childish mind of the first entrant on the path who relies on relative truth. Secondly, there are four: outer, pacifying obstacles to the body; inner, pacifying obstacles of obstructing maras; secret, pacifying obstacles to the mind of meditative stabilization; common, pacifying obstacles of deteriorating circumstances. First, the way to dispel disease that possesses cause, condition, and result is: "Settle from the elements into their natural state." This means that for the body composed of the four elements, the method to pacify the obstacles of all kinds of diseases that arise from the imbalance and disturbance of the elements is as follows: On the all-ground of various habitual tendencies, the three poisons lie dormant. By the clinging to self as the proximate cause or cause, karma is accumulated, and by the condition of the arising of conceptual thoughts from the afflictions, the four kinds of diseases that arise from the transformation of the three poisons—the completely imputed, demonic possession, other-powered, previous karma, perfectly established, appearing like life, and temporary—each has one hundred and one, totaling four hundred and four diseases, and all the suffering of body and mind tormented by the sensation of stinging pain, without relying on ordinary divination, exorcism, medicine, and treatment, one must cut the bonds of self-grasping and clear the dangerous path of hope and fear. The cause of disease is the five poisons, beginning with desire, which generate wind. These five poisons are also the self-display of one's own deluded mind and are not separate from it. Knowing that the nature of mind is primordially free from the elaboration of birth, aging, sickness, and death, abandon self-grasping, cut off the hope and fear of dualistic grasping, and thereby eradicate the root of the coemergent cause of disease, so that the result, the completely imputed disease, will naturally cease. The best method of healing is to rest in the natural state, without accepting or rejecting the pain of disease and the thought of self, but allowing appearance and abiding in the naked face of awareness and emptiness, cultivating it with one-pointedness, thereby destroying the cause, ignorance, with the wisdom of awareness. The condition, the afflictions, revert to the sphere of reality. The connecting conceptual thoughts dissolve into non-conceptual thought. The middling practice of balancing is: If the above realization does not arise, then cut off the worries of not wanting to be sick and the fear of being sick, and completely abandon the appearance of the body, together with self-grasping, without concern, letting go completely. If that does not dispel it, then finally treat it with signs.
