I went to Rudam. There, Lama Jigme Losal from Shechen Monastery came, and I was entrusted to tell the history of Bon, so I told various kinds of oral Bon stories for a long time. The Lama said I was smart and eloquent. At that time, the old official asked me, this person is very smart, I was thinking of entrusting him to learn a subject, what do you think? I decided that it would be good to visit the cousin at Shechen Monastery. I also listed the cultural books to be printed, printed them in places like Dege and Palpung Monastery, and later gave them to me. During the time at Dege Monastery's Yilung Khok (place name), I went to where the official Dangkog (person's name) had gone. In September, Khangsar Pema (person's name) returned, and I traveled to Oshi Rutok. The official gave the cousin a petition, a horse, and three other gifts, several months' worth of food, two pieces of clothing, and sent someone from Rutok to send me to Shechen Monastery. That day it snowed heavily, which seemed to be a good omen for a clear road. The next day, I met Jamgon Lama Rinpoche Gyurme Thutop Namgyal and received empowerment. The escort returned. I was placed with an old Lama of the retreat center named Orgyen Paljor. After that, for an initial test, I learned the mother-son enemy-friend relationship of Black Calculation, and I understood it after only learning it once. The Lama said I was smart, and started teaching the poetics of the Mirror of Poetry. All of these, today more or less, say it once. In the evening, memorize the root verses and study the explanations, and the next morning you must submit a memorization test, which is very difficult, but I tried my best, so the Lama cared about me very much. Because I had to submit a composition exam, but at that time I knew nothing about Dharma, so I lacked the ability to express myself, the Lama gave me a book called "Ocean of Nomenclature" and said to understand it. He also showed the aspects. Even with the nomenclature, I only knew the name and didn't know the meaning, so I sometimes consulted Khenpo Lama Gyurme Tenzin. Although the path to composition was very narrow, I completed the composition exams for all three chapters. After that, I memorized the root verses of Tibetan grammar and calculation, and explained them based on the explanation of the Origin of Dharma. I also submitted examples.

Initially, at the time of the new moon, I received the empowerment of White Manjushri according to the Mati tradition and the transmission of the recitation of his names. After that, I recited the meditation and mantra of Chakme and the recitation of names once each. That night, I dreamed that a full moon rose straight up in the middle of the sky. The next day, I began to study Śabdavidyā (Sanskrit: Śabdavidyā, Devanagari: शब्दविद्या, Roman transliteration: śabdavidyā, Literal meaning: Science of Sound). I memorized the root text and continuously submitted commentaries and drawings as homework. Even when I was afflicted by illness in the summer, I received the blessings of the Black Hayagriva and teachings on the Hundred Peaceful and Wrathful Deities, etc. In the spring of the Iron Hare year (1951), the abbot of Gling Monastery invited me to Dzonggo. During the two months or so that I stayed there, there was a lama in the monastery named Gyurme Tenphel, a fully realized retreatant, from whom I received the empowerments and some Dharma connections of the Mindrolling Dechen Kundu and Konchok Chidu, etc. During the fourth empowerment of Dechen Kundu, he explained the introduction to self-nature in detail using a mirror, which gave rise to a good understanding. I received the lung and practical instructions for the essence extraction of the Northern Treasure Chongzhi, so I practiced the essence extraction for seven days. During this time, one afternoon, I saw a very large tree, the top and the ends of the branches of which were invisible, and a very wonderful bird like a Chinese longevity bird spiraling upwards. This year, it was said that there was a gathering of sacred places at Singe Namdzong, so the guardian lama of the Hundred Thousand Increase Hall, Secret Mantra Lama (bla gsang sngags), said that we two should go on pilgrimage, so we went on pilgrimage. Because the north side was blocked by snow, it was difficult to pass, and one day we had no food. In the afternoon, when we went up a small valley, we were very tired and rested near a rhododendron bush. The guardian lama said that when you are tired from hunger and thirst like this, if you rest your awareness on the nature of the moment, then the nature of mind is nothing other than that. He did meditation including body posture, and I also did meditation including body posture. When I recognized awareness, a clear and non-distracted, experienced but indescribable, and unquestionable conviction arose. In that case, the so-called mind-essence, clinging to mind and non-thought, etc., are meaningless empty turns, and it is enough to directly cultivate the awareness of self-nature, I thought. Afterwards, there was no change in the nature itself. Mantra Lama Kunsang Secret Mantra (kun bzang gsang sngags) also in front of me, Mindrolling
