All dharmas are indistinguishable in meaning and result, like the taste of salt. Do not denigrate any vehicle. Like the rungs of a ladder, the meaning is the same. Because there is no clairvoyance, one cannot understand others, so do not accuse others. In general, all sentient beings are naturally perfect Buddhas, possessing the essence of bodhichitta. Do not observe the faults and errors of others. Do not observe the end of others, but observe what your own end will become. Do not observe the shortcomings of others, but observe your own shortcomings. In general, among sins, attachment to dharma and blaming others are the greatest, it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: From beginningless time, no matter how many bodies have been taken, the benefit of oneself and others has not been accomplished. Therefore, this time, with this body, one must accomplish the benefit of oneself and others. In previous lives, no matter how many bodies were taken, there was no time to practice Dharma. Therefore, now that you have encountered the Dharma, you must strive with diligence. Rely on friends who increase virtue, and abandon friends who increase sin. Do not whine like dogs and hungry ghosts. If you do not relax with antidotes, then your evil mind will burn the continuums of both yourself and others, accumulating sin. If you think of even a little discomfort as suffering, it will become more and more painful. If you do not relax and let go of your mind, you will not find happiness. Do not dwell on the suffering of the past, do not welcome the future. Whatever suffering arises now, do not blame it on circumstances. Search again and again in your own mind. In general, if the antidote does not enter the mind, suffering will not cease. Changing the focus of the mind is very important, it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: If you practice Dharma diligently, whatever root of virtue you do, it is always important to learn for the benefit of others. The difference between the Great and Small Vehicles is not distinguished by view, but by compassion. Therefore, cultivate great compassion. For the sake of oneself and others, one must not turn back from abandoning the suffering of samsara. One must become accustomed to renouncing samsara. For the sake of others, one must become accustomed to compassion. First, one must become accustomed to all sentient beings being like oneself. One must become accustomed to others' suffering being like one's own suffering. Then, one must become accustomed to cherishing all sentient beings more than oneself. For the sake of others, one must become accustomed to great compassion that arises involuntarily.

In general, just cherishing sentient beings is enough to earn the name of Mahayana. If one does not remember the suffering of sentient beings, but lives comfortably and cherishes oneself, then Mahayana will not arise, it is said. Guru Padmasambhava said: If one becomes accustomed to loving-kindness, compassion, and the mind of enlightenment, one will not be born in the three lower realms. From now on, one will not regress, so this alone is the essential instruction. Wherever you go, let the mind of enlightenment accompany your mind without separation. Whatever you do, learn to do it for the benefit of sentient beings. Learn to cherish others more than yourself. Possess many qualities of guarding vows and commitments. Even if you gain the power of mantras and become powerful, you will not attain Buddhahood if you do not cultivate the mind of enlightenment. In general, if a mind of enlightenment arises in your being, all common and uncommon accomplishments will arise from this, so this alone is the essential instruction. Guru Padmasambhava said: Whether you meditate on emptiness or whatever you meditate on, if it does not become an antidote to afflictions and ordinariness, then it is not meditation. If it does not become an antidote to afflictions, it will become a cause for falling into samsara. All hearing, thinking, and speaking about the Dharma, if it becomes an antidote to afflictions and becomes a friend for the arising of pure Dharma in your being, then you are doing the work of the Mahayana teachings, and it is not mistaken. No matter how skilled you are in listening, teaching, benefiting others, and meditating, if it is for the sake of the eight worldly concerns, then you are doing the work of the black teachings. In general, after meditating on appearances and existence as illusion, it is important not to let attachment become stronger and stronger. Only when you are free from attachment can you be called a great yogi, Guru Padmasambhava said. Guru Padmasambhava said: The benefit and happiness of all sentient beings arise from the teachings of the Buddha, so you should study, contemplate, and listen to the tantras, agamas, and sutras. Cause and effect, happiness and suffering, produce seeds like seeds, so distinguish between virtue and evil. If there is no guarding and restraint, the root of the Dharma will rot, so guard your vows and commitments like the apple of your eye. In general, if you do not have faith in practicing the Dharma, it is a waste of time. Whatever you do is meaningless. Whatever you do, it is important not to have doubt or hesitation, Guru Padmasambhava said. Guru Padmasambhava said: Some claim to be secret mantra practitioners, but behave rudely. These are not secret mantra practitioners. The so-called Mahayana practitioner is one who
