Now it is like this. How is it? It was said like that. The emanation of Guru Rinpoche said: Tsogyal, people come suddenly, without even realizing impermanence. How is it? When asked, he said: Even if one can live to the full lifespan, one never transcends death. Whether one dies today or tonight, one certainly does not have the freedom to choose. One's own body can also crush one to death. The body is formed by the four elements. The imbalance of the four elements—wind, bile, phlegm—causes the conditions for death. The body is nourished by food, but overeating or starving can also lead to death. A skilled swimmer can drown. A careless person can be crushed to death. Poisonous food or an incompatible diet can also cause death. A skilled horseman can die from a fall from a horse. A hero can die by the sword. An upright person can die in the grave. In short, there is no condition that is not a cause of death. One does not even have the ability to not die for a single day, yet one tells oneself lies. Guru Padmasambhava said: Tsogyal, it is uncertain when one will die due to the conditions of death. It is uncertain what conditions of death will arise. There is no trust in life. He said that one is certain to die. There is no young person who does not die. There is no liberation for the old. Before one person gets sick, a hundred who are not sick die. Even if a serious illness slightly improves, one is not liberated from death and disease. Disliking death is of no benefit. One dies, but one is not the only one who will die. Saying that everyone will die is also of no benefit. If one does not take a body after death, that is liberation, but one has no control over the place of birth. At the time of death, only the karma of good and evil follows. In short, know that one will die. Knowing the difference between good and evil, yet still doing evil, what are you all thinking? The emanation of Guru Rinpoche said: Tsogyal, after death, one does not go to nothingness. One must be reborn due to karma. Among the three types of karma—good, bad, and neutral—the result of good karma is happiness, such as the heavenly realms. The result of bad karma is suffering, such as the three lower realms. Neutral karma is like a rotten seed, unable to produce fruit. In short, the cause of being born in the three lower realms is sin and attachment. Among them, the karma of sin leads to hell. Attachment leads to rebirth as a hungry ghost or an animal.

Walking on burning ground, walking in flames, being cut by burning iron saws, being beaten by iron hammers, being cooked in boiling copper pots, being eaten by iron red birds without dying, rain of swords falling, walking on the razor's edge, being dragged in a swamp of rotting corpses, being crushed between rocks, plowing the tongue, and so on, it is said that there is suffering that cannot be endured even for a moment. If born in the cold hells, there are those with blisters, those with burst blisters, chattering teeth, those cracked like lotuses, those cracked like উৎপལ་ (Sanskrit: utpala, Roman transliteration: utpala, literal meaning: blue lotus), those whose bodies are cracked like ice, and Avīci. It is said that the suffering of those is unbearable. The hot hells are more painful than the cold hells, which is the hot hell of Avīci. Because the suffering of Avīci is even more unbearable, it is Avīci. In those hells, even death is welcome, but one cannot die, suffering and then recovering. It is said that the cause of being born in Avīci is committing the five heinous crimes and trading in the Dharma. It is said that mainly engaging in the act of killing others leads to being born in other hells. The Teacher Incarnate said: If one engages in moderate non-virtue, one will be born in any of the thirty-six types of pretas. Born there, one always stays in a dark cave, unable to see one's own outstretched arms, tormented by hunger and thirst, bones rattling, sparks flying from the joints, even after hundreds and thousands of eons, one does not hear the names of food and drink, let alone find food and drink, food is seen as pus and blood, seen as flames, seeing that others have no right to eat, and guarding, etc., it is said that one is born without any room to endure suffering. The cause of being born there is stinginess and obstructing generosity. Stinginess is not being able to give alms oneself, and obstructing generosity means obstructing others from giving. The Teacher Incarnate said: If one engages in minor non-virtue, one will be born in any of the thirty-six types of animals. Born there, one is foolish and deluded, without autonomy, and by others
