That unaltered reality, unshaken by the mind's thoughts, clear and open, abiding in non-thought, that alone is the key to the self-purification of the Dharmakaya, by recognizing it as the basis of the meaning of the Alaya, consciousness, and things. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrusted to you! Jomo asked the master: Where is the boundary between mind and mind-consciousness? The master said: What is called mind is the basis of all thoughts. What is called mind-consciousness is the wind that moves it, remembering what is not to be remembered. When practicing in the continuum, the mind is without thought and does not establish any nature, and is not moved by the wind of movement. Like a butter lamp not moved by the wind, it is clear and without thought. This is the key to the self-luminous purity of mind-consciousness in Dharmata. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrusted to you! Jomo asked the master: Where is the boundary between ultimate truth and conventional truth? The master said: What is called ultimate truth is that which has not become an object of consciousness. What is called conventional truth is that which appears unhindered in anything in the nature of delusional consciousness. When practicing in the continuum, looking at conventional truth, conventional truth does not become an object of consciousness, and while appearing, it is emptiness, and nothing is established. Only this is the key to the self-purification of conventional truth in ultimate truth. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrusted to you! Jomo asked the master: Where is the boundary between the other shore and this shore? The master said: What is called the other shore is that which transcends samsara. What is called this shore is the dharma of samsara. When practicing in the continuum, looking at this shore, which is the mind of one's own continuum, there is nothing, and there is nothing to do in the mind, and it is clear and pure. Only this is called going to the other shore. The key to the purification of this shore reaching the other shore. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrusted to you! Jomo asked the master: Where is the boundary between ignorance and wisdom? The master said: What is called ignorance is that which is covered by a thick obscuration of consciousness, and nothing is understood. What is called wisdom is the clear reality of the way things are.

Looking at the mind of the earth, the judgment of knowing and not knowing does not enter the mind, and whatever has not been established in its essence remains clear and unobscured. That alone is said to be the key to the self-purification of delusion. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrust it to you! Teacher, Jomo asked: What is the boundary between hatred and love? The teacher said: Hatred is cutting off the object of the other with the mind; love is the mind's compassion for the object of the other. When practicing in the continuum, even when looking at the object of arising hatred, it does not establish its own essence and abides in emptiness; even when looking at the object of arising compassion, it does not establish its own essence and abides in emptiness; the enemy of hatred is also the mind, and the loving friend is also the mind. Understanding that the mind is empty and nothing is established is the key to the self-purification of hatred and compassion. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrust it to you! Teacher, Jomo asked: What is the difference between desire and joy? The teacher said: Desire is craving the desired object and the thing itself; joy is generating mental happiness. When practicing in the continuum, when looking at the time of arising desire, when seeing pleasant objects and acquiring wealth, etc., if it is in the mind, only joy is happiness. Both of these are the mind, and since the mind is not established anywhere, it is the key to the self-purification of desire and happiness. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrust it to you! Teacher, Jomo asked: What is the boundary between self and other? The teacher said: Self is grasping as real; other is dividing into factions. When practicing in the continuum, when looking at self, grasping as self is also not established; when looking at other, holding onto the other side's faction is also not established. Both self and other are the mind, and the mind is emptiness, the key to self-purification without distinction between self and other. Extremely important, Tso-gyal, entrust it to you! Teacher, Jomo asked: What is the boundary between suffering and happiness? The teacher said: Suffering is mental discomfort; happiness is mental comfort. When practicing in the continuum, when looking at the suffering mental discomfort, the thing
