All the Buddhas on earth realize that their own minds are unborn; from the unborn nature, the three bodies arise; it is decided that it cannot be accomplished from elsewhere, so it is said. The teacher, Jomo asked: What assurance do you have that you are not afraid of change? The teacher replied: If you look at change with worldly eyes, because the power of self-awareness is complete, and you always abide in the unchanging state of great equality, it is decided that you are fundamentally free from change. Jomo asked the teacher: Where should I dwell so that I am not afraid of death? The teacher replied: When the nature of mind is perfected in unbornness, although the body appears to be changing, the nature of mind will not change from the empty and clear Dharmakaya, so it is decided. Jomo asked the teacher: What is the cliff of the six realms? The teacher replied: The six realms appear as various kinds of suffering, which are not caused by others, but arise from oneself; because one does not recognize oneself, one's own mind harms oneself; it is decided that one's own mind, the great emptiness, is separated from the root of suffering. Jomo asked the teacher: Is this mind-nature stained by karma and habitual tendencies? The teacher replied: Karma and habitual tendencies, good thoughts and bad thoughts, what is to be cultivated and what can be cultivated, etc., all good things are the mind; bad thoughts, all those who do evil are also the mind; in the unborn emptiness and insubstantiality of the mind, it is decided that it will not be stained by the good or evil of karma. Jomo asked the teacher: Is the cliff of the place of downfall a thought or a non-thought? The teacher replied: The root of downfall is one's own discriminating thought; the place of downfall is one's own cliff; fear of downfall is the discriminating thought of the mind; samsara is the manifestation of the mind, which is delusion; when one realizes one's own mind as the great Dharmakaya, it is decided that the six realms themselves are also the pure land of the Buddha. Jomo asked the teacher: Does the view have bias? The teacher replied: The view of non-contrivance (non-attachment) is like the sky without direction; everything is mind, the nature of mind is empty; it is decided that there is no bias, just like the sky.

Jomo asked the master: Does meditation have clarity and obscurity? The master replied: The essence of mind itself is emptiness, and the nature of reality abides without change. That non-dual, unobstructed clarity is clear like the essence of the sun. Even in obscurity, it is decided that it does not separate from its base. Jomo asked the master: Does action have acceptance and rejection? The master replied: Action without acceptance and rejection is like a flawless crystal ball placed on a silk cushion. Whatever is done, the mind itself is empty and clear. Whatever faults or merits, no basis is established. Whatever appears, it is decided as self-arisen and self-liberated. Jomo asked the master: Is the result attained from elsewhere? The master replied: Because it abides within oneself, it cannot be attained. For example, like a precious wish-fulfilling jewel, all needs arise from oneself. All the great qualities of the Buddhas arise from realizing one's own mind. Decide that one's own mind is primordially spontaneously accomplished as the Dharmakaya. Jomo asked the master: Should outer appearances be regarded as faults? The master replied: Do not regard appearances as faults, because self-appearances have no inherent nature. Like reflections in a mirror, decide that appearances are without inherent nature. Jomo asked the master: Should inner thoughts be regarded as faults? The master replied: Do not regard thoughts as faults, like the waves of the ocean. Because one's own mind is emptiness, unwavering, whatever thoughts arise, decide that they are the play of the nature of reality. Jomo asked the master: Does conditioned virtue need to be relied upon? The master replied: All created things are deceptive, all conditioned things will perish. The nature of reality is primordially spontaneously accomplished, decide that conditioned virtue does not require effort. Jomo asked the master: Does wisdom have east and west? The master replied: Awareness-wisdom arises within oneself, and it is primordially self-luminous. The essence is self-luminous, without inner or outer. Decide that self-luminous wisdom is spontaneously accomplished. Jomo asked the master: Is there duality between cause and effect?
